The Hillside Estate — Attraction in Cross Roads

Let me start off by saying we made the worst mistake ever of choosing The Hillside Estate for my sister's wedding venue. There were several problems we had with this venue and staff.

We were not treated with equal respect and dignity as other individuals who we saw tour the venue after we had booked. Actually at one of our final meetings there was another couple touring the venue and they had about 2-3 staff members running behind them attending their every need. We never received this kind of treatment from the staff, instead we received a rude attitude.

One of the staff members actually called the bride about 2-3 days before her wedding complaining about our vendors.The last thing a bride needs is a call from the venue only complaining about vendors (when there was no actual real problem to begin with). Each and everyone of our vendors complained about the venue being rude to their staff. I know the problem was not with our vendors because we have had the same vendors at 2 prior weddings. All of our vendors (florist, caterer, photographer, wedding coordinator etc.) said this was their first experience with Hillside and will most definitely be their last. The vendors all said they will detour any future couples away from this venue.

Let me also mention at the end of the night the staff members went around to OUR floral arrangements in the reception hall and were helping themselves. After our experience with Hillside we most definitely did not want to offer them anything, but the fact that their staff felt like the floral arrangements we had paid for - (not them) was open to taking, WITHOUT even asking is not acceptable.

I just warn whoever reads this review to not judge Hillside by the looks because I fully agree it is absolutely beautiful. Just like in humans beauty is not everything, the amount of stress we endured because of this venue and staff is immeasurable. They were not caring, not understanding, not empathetic, not respectful, not polite. And for that reason I will NEVER recommend Hillside to anybody.

During the wedding several people asked us about our experience will Hillside because they thought it was beautiful and they were considering it for their wedding. Needless to say we all detoured them far far away from here. If you are looking for a gorgeous venue with AMAZING staff and customer service I will hands down point you to the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas. This was our first experience booking with this venue and for sure our last.

My final thoughts, don't judge a venue by its looks especially this one. Take everything I said into consideration before booking with this venue.

The Hillside Estate truly was my dream venue. I got married in October 2023 and after hiring my planners, venue was the second thing I secured and after seeing Hillside in person, nothing else really compared. The aesthetics of this venue is superior and very luxe. The Estate alone is just breath taking pulling up to it but when you see the inside of it, the logistics and details are what make it incredible. It is handicap friendly, tons of parking, the chapel and reception areas are just down the hall from each other so it’s easy for your guests. There’s a courtyard where you can have your wedding if you want or make it your cocktail hour area (which we did) and it made for such a great atmosphere for guests to enjoy. As a bride, the bridal suite is everything you could ever want. So much natural lighting, massive room to get ready in, mirrors and outlets everywhere. I had 9 bridesmaids, 4 HMU people, twins for flower girls and myself and we were never cramped for space in that room. They have speakers built into the room so we could listen to music the entire time. The groom suite is the male equivalent but with entertainment, tv, pool tables and just a place for the guys to hang out. No complaints from the guys at all. Mama’s Medicine cocktails are their vendor that they will have you use for the bar and they are delicious. If you want a special drink that’s not on their menu, they’ll create it for you but with their spin on it, which was unique and turned out great. I was going to a be a Disney bride and then COVID happened. In changing my plans, our wedding was now going to be local to the North Dallas area. I was looking for a venue that encompassed my fairytale vision for my wedding but also had a classic elegance to it. Somehow I stumbled across the Instagram page for The Hillside Estate. We went to do a site visit while the property was just in the framing stage of construction and the moment we walking into the chapel my mom was crying and my now husband and I had goosebumps. This was the place. I am so grateful that we chose the Hillside Estate and am thankful that Disney didn’t work out because the venue surpassed my wildest dreams. We were the first wedding at the Hillside and you would have never known. Everything went seamlessly and the staff were extremely attentive to every detail and need. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and you can tell how much thought went into every little detail. The design as well as the interior furniture are timeless and that was important to me for my pictures when I look back thirty years from now. Brittney, Alexis, Brittney’s parents and the team at the Hillside went above and beyond for us. We felt as if we made friends through the process and we miss seeing them. I wish I could have my wedding all over again. At the Hillside Estate everything is possible, we got to make our dreams into a reality with so many gorgeous spaces to decorate.
