I had been wanting to go to this place ever since I became a 19D in the U.S. Army. If you're interested in American History, you don't want to miss this place. The young man that was running the operation when I got there was so generous he kept the store open longer so I could soak in as much as I wanted to. Before I went there today I considered myself semi knowledgable about Custer and the Battle of Little BigHorn but I had only scratched the surface. I would rate this place higher than 5 stars if I could. I will absolutely be back. They do not allow photos or voice recordings, which I can understand, but because I didn't make a good enough mental note I already want to go back and check out some things. I also intend to buy some of the souvenirs and a t-shirt or two, which is not something I have ever had any desire to do before elsewhere. This place is amazing, I HIGHLY recommend taking the opportunity to spend an hour or two checking everything out. I reckon most people don't stay as long as I did but if this is your thing, come at least by noon or no later than 1pm because they do close at 4PM most the time I think.

Read moreIt's a small out of the way place located just off hwy 90. When approach the building you hear an audio about the battle of the Little Bighorn. Inside you first come to the shop, which has a great selection of books, jewelry, and souvenirs for you to take home. In the museum there is a care and organization that just doesn't exist anywhere else. The owner, Chris Kortlander, is a very gregarious man and explains the artifacts of the museum before giving you free reign to roam where you like. Because the museum is privately owned, there are some artifacts donated from Native Americans who didn't want pieces of their history to go to the government (can you blame them?). This is definitely a must-see place for anyone even remotely appreciative of history. It is near the Little Bighorn National Monument, do if that is on your bucket list, you'll be doing yourself a great disservice not to visit This Custer Battlefield Museum as well. Also, this museum has the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which I was completely unaware of until I got there. Check it out, you won't be...
Read moreThis is a small and charming museum that gave us a precursor to our next stop Little Bighorn battlefield. The knowledgeable and friendly museum staff was greatly appreciated. The museum has many Custer artifacts/exhibits and information that helps define the circumstances of the battle and the man. There are also Indian exhibits that are impressive and authentic. The museum staff were exemplary...they were helpful and available for any question. An excellent video is available to view regarding Custer's Last Stand that was tremendously helpful in understanding the story and logistics of the battle. The museum is clean and well organized. Adjacent to the museum there is a souvenir shop with a variety of items to purchase that include typical tourist items, but also unique and some valuable items. If you are hungry, a great little eatery is available that serves delicious food next to the shop. If you are in the area it is a must...
