This is my safe place, its the most beautiful and calming place I have ever been tbh. It's a turtle nesting beach so its preserved in a way and not many people go to it. My grandma was a volunteer with the turtles so I've never really known if it was an open beach or just because of her that we could go. It's a little ways away if you're staying in town but its worth the drive, the water is always clear and I don't think I've ever found any trash there. The beach curves out into a little bayish thing to the far left of the entrance that is pretty shallow normally shaded and on the far right of the entrance the beach turns into a rocky shore that is my favorite part; the view from thos rocks is just amazing and the water is just high enough to make the water mist. If you manage to get over all the rocks the beach goes one forever and its a great place to just explore. This place is nothing but beautiful agh, i love zoni and culebra is gonna be my...
Read moreThis beach is the hidden treasure on the island. It's practically empty, with a very large beach in either direction to lounge on. In my opinion, the water was clearer than Flamenco. The waves were not as strong, at least on the day I visited. If you go approximately 50 yards to the left from entrance after parking, you'll find the best area to go out with no rocks to maneuver around and you can walk out pretty far. I regret not bringing snorkel equipment as this is the ideal place to go.
The only drawback was the sand was mixed with some black stone, which caused it to get VERY hot and you couldn't stand barefoot in one area long, so either get in a shady spot, on a towel, or stay in the water!
We went back the next morning for sunrise as it faces to the east....
Read moreTrue to the words of all other reviews here, Zoni Beach is the real gem of Culebra. Less explored, tucked away in the east corner, this beach has calm, turquoise water with a large stretch of the beach to relax on. With a small parking space and not many visitors, this is the ideal beach, far away from the crowds. Just about 15min ride from the town. With the view of the many small uninhabited islands of Culebritas, one can spend hours here forgetting the world around. The route is beautiful and makes for a pleasant ride especially in the last 2-3 mins when the ocean view opens up.
PS: last stretch of road closer to the beach is steep but accessible by Golf cart. No restrooms or shaded area or water stations....
