New public boat ramp located next to Lake Pelham Adventures and the Old Country Store, right off of Rte. 29. State and local boating permits required, along w/ life jackets and whistles. Boat rentals at Lake Pelham Adventures (paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats); lakeside pavilion rental from the Old Country Store (closed Sundays, I think).
Both of the other older boat ramps appeared to be closed the last time I was out. The one to the north seemed to be cordoned off for now, due to construction. (Dam repair?) The other one used to be off of the SW branch of the lake, I think. Water level was too low, and the whole thing was filled with water lilies or something similar when I was there.
My husband and I came across what may be Pectinatella magnifica freshwater bryozoa when we were out last. I've been meaning to ask around and see if someone could confirm that. If you don't know what those are, they are sort-of, er, like a freshwater sponge-like creature. At first, you might think they are plastic bag trash floating on the surface -- until you get a closer look. Hadn't seen those before. It was weird.
Anyway, nice, peaceful lake, for the most part, although toward the northern end is a subdivision on a hill and some sort of water intake pump. Otherwise, mostly quiet; large houses, mostly trees and some farmland.
Oh yeah, and I think that fishing is permitted, with local and state...
Read moreTook my kids to Lake Pelham during the week, rented a paddle boat. It was hilariously fun and entertaining to say the least. It was $10 bucks an hour to rent the boat. I have a 15,10 and almost 3 year old. We cruised the Lake paddling, while my toddler steered the boat lol. We brought our fishing poles, didn't catch anything but i assumed in a paddle boat with music playing and kids laughing and carrying on, it was still a blast though. The Lake itself was nice and clean and calm. Lots of gorgeous houses surrounded the lake. Lots of beautiful birds. I Definitely recommend even if it's for an hour or two. You can also rent kayaks, and paddleboards. We will be going...
Read moreLake must be pretty. Google map showed us a road that says no trespassing. Since I think map should be updated. However, we gotta see the lake from lakeview of Hoa. That part of lake is kinda suffocating because of bugs and mosquitoes. But the lake itself is very big I believe. It must have prettier shore. It’s just the google map which showed us a...
