Cabin #18. Clean. 4 single bunk beds in the back room. One double bed in the front room. The rooms have their own heat source and a doo that separates them. Love the wood construction. There was a small table and 2 stools inside. The beds were comfortable enough and the heat kept us warm. You turn the knob clockwise and we kept it at about 12 o’clock position in 40 degree weather and we were toasty. The back heater is floor heat and there is a dial on the wall behind the door that goes up to 90. I could not tell if it was working when I had the dial below 90 but when I cranked it up to 90 we could feel it for sure. There was one window in the back room and two windows in the front room for air flow. It was close to a small playground and a short walk to the bathroom. The bathrooms were clean. The water warmed up after a few minutes for the showers. There was a family bathroom with a shower, but I did not test that shower. The other sites seemed large and well maintained. The sites had some trees without being overgrown or barren (I have been to a few sites without trees and I hate those. These sisters were great.) They sold wood at the site but it was $5 for 5-6 logs. Well, not logs and not sticks. But it was about $1 per “log.” There would last for a short fire but if it was cold or you want a bigger fire you would need 4-5 stacks. I rate this site a 5 out of 5 and look forward to...
Read moreI wish I could write two separate reviews for this place- one for the campground and one for the park itself. This is because, in my opinion, the park itself gets 5+ rating but the campground gets a 2 at best. The campsites are cramped, tiny, and you are near literally on top of your neighbors. At least everyone there was really friendly.. Also, we booked site 74 and it was completely uneven, massive roots and rocks all throughout making it impossible to find a spot big enough free of those hazards to pitch my 9x8 kodiak. I have bigger kodiaks that have no chance of ever being set there. The site photos were 100% misleading. As a result we bailed and went and got a hotel about 30 minutes away. I'm sure we could have made it work out somehow but my daughter and I felt it was unlikely and would have a pain at best. Before we left the camp area we did a drive around and discovered that site 74 was by and far the worse site there! The other sites were fairly level and only had pea size gravel compared to the literally golf ball to baseball sized rocks at site 74... very disappointing to say the least... ... now the state park on the other hand was amazing. Lots of trout streams to fish or play it, great scenic hikes and overall a generally great place to spend a weekend. We do intend on booking here again (just not site 74) because it was so isolated and...
Read moreWe had a really nice stay renting the yurts, they were both cozy and clean. They do not have AC in them only heat so definitely pack a fan if you are staying during the summer months because it got ridiculously hot during the day. One thing I didnt know before going was that there is absolutely no cell signal/internet, but there is a camp phone you can use if you need to. The camp ground was clean and quiet even when it was crowded over the weekend. The bathrooms/showers were clean, only thing we disliked was everything is push button. You can not controll the water temperature and sometimes it got cold in the shower. The play grounds for the children were also well kept. The lake is a short drive down the road and there is a nice creek you can walk to and explore from any site. We swam and was able to go kayaking at the lake. The park rangers do rounds frequently so if you needed some thing you could ask easily. If there was anything going on activities/information they would go around and let everyone know. The camp host also walked around one day during our stay to let everyone know to prepare for a storm we would be having. Lastly, pack lots of bug spray! The flies are vicious and bite the heck out of you! Pros/Cons: Pros: Clean Quiet Affordable Outdoor activities
Cons: No service Push buttons -...
