I really enjoy hiking here. It's never been busy and there are a couple of different options.
I admit I sometimes get a little spooked by how quiet it is, but that's a "me" thing. The trails are very well maintained and are well marked without detracting. Lots of moss, mushrooms, rocks, trees, and water (depending on the season can include ponds, streams, bogs).
The "back loop" (about 1.5 miles total) includes a narrow raised section (2 planks, not sure how long but it's several sections) so anything on wheels (stroller, wheelchair) might have issues but the front loop (1 mile total, can be shorter if you take the connector trail)raised platforms are wider. Mostly.
The path around the art preserve itself is very accessible and the art is cool and unique. You get Christina from Christina's World, Richard Nixon, and a plethora of animals.

But with all the very large wood sculptures, some interactive, it can also be enjoyed for hours & hours by both adult's & children alike. Even more so because some of the scultutres allow for kids to climb into and then atop them.
If in a peaceful Zen mood, one could meditate there on a bench or the old foot bridge. And if you arrive there in spring or summer near dusk, just as I did, you will get to enjoy hundreds of frogs a peepin' & a croakin' in the centrally located pond, which just made my lone experience there...
Read moreI absolutely love locations like this, outdoor sculpture gardens are so fun! The only reason I didn't give this particular location 5 stars is because around too many of the sculptures, the grass had grown so high that you couldn't get to them to get good pictures, it. Nixon, the bather pond, and a couple of others. When I looked through pictures in the reviews it appears that normally the garden is kept a little bit lower level for better viewing. That would have been so much nicer! Other than that though, very nice little...
