Upon Arrival the Scarlet Pearl is easily one of the most beautiful properties in the area. The Landscaping is meticulously clean and well kept. The staff is warm and friendly. When you arrive you pull into a covered area where you are greeted by the bell hop and valet. Upon entry into the resort you are greeted with a beautiful lobby opposite escalators to the main floor. Once you ascend the escalator to the right are the dining facilities and casino. To the left is reception where you will walk up to the podiums and are greeted by the best reception staff I have had the pleasure of meeting on my travels. In Particular in this case i was honored to work with Sheka. She was such a radiant ray of sunshine and so efficient with getting us checked in. Gigi helped the second half of our party during their check in and while she was wonderful and gracious she was faced with a concern with their half as their reservation was not properly made for the stay and needed some adjustments. ||Check-In- |Sheka was a wonderful radiant ray of sunshine as I stated before. She got my group's license, checked us all in and had us to our rooms quickly. Assigned our rooms and gave us instructions on entering the property. Efficiency is key. During our stay anytime she saw me she would wave and greet me. So kind and sweet. ||Gigi was faced with concerns off the bat due to reservations not being properly made. However she was quick with getting them sorted out and the second half of the party to their rooms and situated. Gigi comes into play a little later here she shined with me. ||Upon unloading the vehicles and getting us to our rooms I had the great and wonderful pleasure of working with Nick the bell hope. This man is the absolute best and I swear if I could have taken him with me I would have. He got my vehicle unloaded and my mother and aunts things to their room. This in itself was not an easy task lol. They don't pack light lol. Upon entry to the room Nick took his time to show me everything in the room for them. (How to open and close the blind, adjust the air conditioning, while he hung there clothes and sorted there bags. Just an Absolut king of a man. Throughout the stay He waved and greeted us. Spoke when he could just be an absolutely wonderful person all around. ||Valet services.|On arrival after check in I needed to make a run to Walmart to get a few things my aunts needed while they enjoyed the casino. Valet was quick about getting my vehicle pulled back around and was very courteous. Quick trip to Walmart and back I was greeted by a different Valet. A young lady this time she was not so friendly however efficient. I got my things out and proceeded in while she disposed of my vehicle. ||At this time my room was ready so when I got back I picked up my key and went to my room. Again Sheka was amazing. She apologized for the delay in getting my room ready and got me my room keys and checked in rather quickly. I got upstairs to my room and it was wonderful. I got unpacked and ironed my shirt and got ready. During this time a member of my cousin's party hit a big Jackpot. Congrats to her. ||The first night was amazing. We ate at Under the Oak Cafe, the service was great and the food was delicious. The ambiance of the area is stunning: a massive artificial tree in the middle with twinkle lights all over it. Just stunning. The server we had, I do apologize to as I did not get her name however she was so great. Very attentive and quick with getting our orders and food. ||The cousins and aunt and mother stayed on the floor gambling and had a great time. I retired to my bed for a great night's rest. ||Day 2: ||Day 2 is where issues started arriving. This does not affect the hotel staff as they were all great. This falls to the Valet and the steak house mainly. ||My mother and aunts decided they wanted to go try a couple other casinos on that day. So I went down ahead of them to retrieve my vehicle. Now anyone who knows me will tell you I am very particular about my vehicle. I went down to the main floor to get my vehicle from Valet. Well, I walked past this man who stood tall and firm like a statue with crossed arms. Not so much as a good morning or may I help you. (Come to find out he is the Valet manager) in my opinion needs to be replaced. I walk to the window and give my ticket to the valet while he engages with another guest who has lost his ticket. Just overhearing his conversation was enough to deter me from speaking to him. The manner he was speaking to this older gentleman I wish he would have spoken to me that way I would have given him a piece of my mind. So he stops the guy trying to find my vehicle and puts him on the task of finding this other gentleman's vehicle. He then goes and pulls my car around and some in and tells me my car is right there in the valet parking area. Upon entry into my vehicle the loud aroma of POT hits me. My radio is turned wide open and blaring music I don't listen to. Not being one who partakes in such things it was rather off putting. Of course when my mom and aunts get in my car they mention it and I tell them I'll deal with it once I get them to their next destination. So after breakfast I take them to the Beau and drop them off and then off to find a car wash and Walmart to get the smell out of my vehicle. I picked them up at the Beau and then returned to the Scarlet Pearl. As they were not impressed with the play at the Beau. I decided at this point to park myself. Once we got parked and back to our rooms they went back to the floor to gamble and I changed into shorts and a T-shirt with the intention to go sit by the pool and get some work done. Gambling is not my thing. Well day 2 and the pool is still closed. So I returned to my room and got a few things done for work and went to find my mother and aunts. At this time my cousin says she has made dinner reservations at Scarlets Streak and Seafood. This is where the rest of the negative comes in. So for this to be a 5 star restaurant I would highly say maybe 2 at best. Server was sub par to the best. Stain on his white shirt clearly hazards of the job. One ordered a top shelf Margarita that looked more like a float and was so sour she could not even drink it. The second drink they brought to replace it was not that much better and was left untouched. Drinks were left unfilled and the wait for subpar dare I say raw uncooked food was horrendous. The ice had melted in the drinks before the food came out if that tells you anything. My patience grew very short very past and I got up and went and spoke with the manager who was highly dismissive and completely rude as he showed me back to the table and told me the food will be here shortly. ||Another 20 minutes passed and the food was finally delivered. 2 steaks were ordered rare. They served raw uncooked unheated cold to the touch steaks. Lobster tail was cooked and warm. Chicken dishes were hot. Served on a pool of potatoes, with a side of over cooked asparagus. Never got my order of side veggies as an addition to my meal. Total Cost for the meal was $860 bucks for the group. ||At first you would think they were backed up, maybe busy well sense they seated us outside next to the cafe. When I entered the restaurant to get the manager there were 4 tables at that time. Ours being the largest of the tables. If you cannot handle such a few in your restaurant with staff standing around then you don't need to be the manager and your staff need to be replaced. ||So if you're thinking of giving the Scarlets Steak and Seafood a try I would say pass and go to another restaurant there are plenty around that would provide a lot better service and great food. I know a Golden Corral that would be better than this place. ||Leaving the steak house the group wanted to go gamble So they were going back to the casino and I was returning back to my room. The security outside the Casino called my cousin a (F… A..hole). Apparently there was an issue between them the night prior I was not made aware of until we checked out. Thai wrapped it up for me. ||I went to the reception and Gigi to the rescue. I explained to her what all happened and she was in pure shock, She immediately went and Got Teresa. Mis Teresa was absolutely amazing. She listened intently to all my concerns, wrote detailed notes and was so apologetic for the whole thing. She said that while she does not have any say so over Valet and the restaurant she would be sure to bring my concerns to their managers when she pointed out the manager of Valet and he was the concern from that morning. In which I explained to her His and my interactions. ||Long short: |Sheka, Gigi, Teresa, and Nick were absolutely amazing and would all be a reason to come back to the Scarlet Pearl. Gameplay. While not as big as some things the casino should be, it was a great time and everyone had a good time at the casino and hotel. Things to note. The steak house is a waste of time, money and food. Staff is subpar at best and the food was horrible there was more food left on the table than consumed. If you want to eat, the pizza place is great and the Cafe is great. Spend your money there. There are no complaints on the hotel side at all. It was clean and the rooms were nice and for the price it was great. Some of the security needs retraining and I know at least one that should be terminated in my opinion. It needs to be clear to all guests that they need to Carry their government issued ID with them at all times. While on the resort. If that was clear maybe the issues that happened between my cousin and the security would not have happened. ||Would I stay here again yes, Would i recommend yes. I probably will not. The group does want to come back to Biloxi however they want to stay at another resort / Casino next time as the steakhouse and security issues for them were frustrating. Since I don't gamble I don't travel to Casinos unless they have a spa. That's my reasoning. Why wouldn't I go back? Especially since I had to spend my down time cleaning my car to get the pot smell...
Read moreSo my family meets in the Biloxi area for a family reunion once a year, and since 2016 or 17, we have all stayed at the pearl. We all enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone we talked to. That ended this year. The rewards system now only goes for 6 months, unlike other casinos having 12. So because of this, my brother and his family stayed elsewhere. My parents, sister, and myself all got rooms at the scarlet pearl anyway because it had always been so nice, so we overlooked not getting the room discounts we normally get. When we arrived, check-in was a nightmare. My mom is in a wheelchair and they wouldn't let my dad check in to their hotel room because it was on my moms credit card. They gave my parents hell because my mom's ID didn't perfectly match her credit card despite never having that problem before, so she couldn't check in either. Same card and name she's been using for years. No one would help with anything. Sara at the front desk was the only one who seemed to care but had her hands tied by corporate policy that even American express was shocked by when we asked them why the card wasn't accepted. The entire attitude was "well this is our policy and we refuse to work with you". My parents finally get checked into their accessibility room and the floor is slick, the bed too high to get into without a step stool or a running jump. The solution from staff was to put the box springs and mattress directly on the floor. Eventually moved them to another room. Which hey that was the only accommodation they made. With my mom in a wheel chair we usually hang out in the hotel room and catch up as a family but my brother and his wife and kids were not allowed to visit. Had to talk to the most unsympathetic and rude manager John who basically tossed up his hands and tried to claim this had always been the policy and we knew from years past that wasn't true. They eventually allowed us to put my brothers family on my room so they could come see his elderly mother for 5 minutes up in the hotel room. But we had to remove them off when they left so we didn't get charged extra. I know there are higher rollers than us. But the utter contempt that staff showed at the prospect of pissing off multiple adults who reliably rent 4+ rooms and gamble all week was shocking. No way to accommodate and no bending at all. We all decided after the first night we were never coming back and did not gamble at all there. You are a hospitality business but have zero hospitality. The rooms are still nice looking but clearly haven't been updated since they were built and things have gotten cheap and sparse. In the 3 rooms we did have all 3 smelled musty, and the sheets felt wet if you came back at the end of the night. Plus the beds used to have comforters and now it's just sheets. They also used to have 4 pillows per bed and now only 3. The shower handle fell off in my dad's hand when he went to turn on the water. My door lock kept staying unlocked and I had to have maintenence reset it a few times to keep our belongings secure. I understand security but a no visitors policy even for direct family with id's is asinine. Not allowing a wheelchair bound elderly woman to see her grandkids in the comfort of her room without leaving your property is cruel and stupid. It's like they want this place to fail. Looks like it's working though because in years past the parking deck was always busy as was the self parking lot. But I never once had an issue finding a spot this year. I would not be surprised at all if the property changes names or owners in the near future. It's like they want to make this experience as frustrating as possible so it fails. I stay in hotels multiple times a year for leisure and business and have only ever written 1 other hotel review but the poor service, attitude and rooms made this a necessity. Especially considering we have been coming since it opened and have had nothing but positive things to say until this year. Never again...
