Seriously, avoid if you can. If you are trying to avoid blood mountain, don’t. I had injured myself and was pretty worn out by the time I finished Freeman Trail. As a first time visitor to the AT I had no idea if I was still on the path for the first hour since I never saw the blue blazes posted on the trees. The path is barely recognizable and I can’t tell you how much anxiety I went through thinking I went off trail.
