There is a feeling of going through the looking glass when entering this park off a short curving on ramp to IH 35. Drivers behind you expect to accelerate, and instead you slow quickly to take a sharp right off the on ramp to enter the park. But what a magical surprise to find this most unusual and unique of all urban forest parks in Dallas. Well marked wide trails guide you through a forested loop of more than 3 miles past numerous picnic tables and benches dotted with wild hibiscus and river scenes and big red hawks and mourning doves flying between the trees. Read moreFound this place the other day and absolutely loved it! What a hidden gem in Dallas! The trails were very well kept up with and there were lots of them. The scenery was very beautiful. Lots of spots to fish. We didn’t do all of the trails just yet, so that we had something new to explore for next time. Love that the trails and area are easily marked. They have fishing line recyclers and the whole place is supposedly kept up by volunteers, well they obviously do a great job! Only downside was there was some pretty nasty trash in the water, but when it floods there’s not much that can be done to prevent that unfortunately.
