I am very hesitant to give this low review based on my telephone conversation alone, but hopefully someone higher up with the Museum of Flight will see it and others concerning what happened. I was really looking forward to visiting this museum with a group of young basketball girls, but unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the behavior of the director — before we even got to the doors from a simple miscommunication. We had been misinformed by another staff member (who was INCREDIBLY sweet, polite and excited) that we could take a team photo in front of one of the static planes. When I politely tried to clarify the rules, I was abruptly told that there is a $500 per hour fee for photography. Instead of explaining the policy professionally, the director curtly said, "$10 won't keep the doors open."
We were fully prepared to pay the museum’s admission fees and had intended to make it a meaningful team bonding experience. It wasn’t about trying to avoid paying — it was about being treated with basic courtesy and respect. Because of how poorly we were spoken to, we decided not to attend at all.
Based on other reviews, it seems we aren't the only ones who have found her soft skills of communication disappointing. Clearly, I’m not the first potential visitor to be treated this way, and unfortunately, I doubt I’ll be the last.
It’s a shame — it looks to be a beautiful museum with great potential, but driving away willing visitors with rude and condescending communication isn’t the way to keep the doors...
Read moreHad heard that the museum in Rome had set up one down here in Dallas and decided it was time to go see it. Got to meet Mr. Gil and he gave us a guided tour around the museum. The highlight though was getting to set with him for a bit and hearing some of his stories. You can read all you want about our military history, but you really just don't get the experience you do setting down across from a vet who lived it and listening to them. They won't be around forever so if you encounter one of these gents who is willing to talk - take some time out of your day and listen. It's well worth the while. They've got a couple of very special aircraft out there that I highly recommend going out to see.
This is not a big, well funded museum so don't expect a large display area or lots of aircraft. What they do have is a wealth of history in the vets who lived it and are willing to share. The displays they do have are well put together donated items from their members. Most of these are local vets some of whom have passed on. I appreciate these men and women for their service not only to our country, but to our little local museum. My wife and I both enjoyed our visit. Thank you...
Read moreIt was awesome to see a lot of World War Two stuff and more. My favorite part was the F-14 Tomcat, that you can look inside of. You get to touch and feel lots of stuff like guns, pictures, airplane sticks for meeting in WW2. They have lots more from pictures of Pearl Harbor Attack to F-14 Tomcat. There is a lot of stuff inside and the tour guide was very helpful and informative and nice, he is young and is a great person. We got to see planes take off and land because of the airport being so close to the museum. I recommend you to chose the tour guide. But it does take a long time with tour guide. If you want to go fast and get a little peek at everything, I recommend you going with no tour guide. Everyone was nice, only one or two people were there. This is a good museum if you live near Dallas or in Paulding county. I’m 11, this is my mom’s account. I’m a boy named...
