It's a weird, funky park - an area of land that once accommodated the old track of Hwy 1 and then slid into the Pacific. Then it was a dump which is why local paraglider call it "The Dumps" and now it's a park.
On a day of favorable winds you can encounter a flock of paraglider pilots flying over head. Not to mention people walking dogs, fishermen on their way to the beach for a night of fishing, people flying RCs, drones and anything that will fly, or even just locals going for a stroll. It's an eclectic bunch that come to this park.
Warnings:
If you're walking a dog be aware that there is a sizable coyote population in the park. Some days when the wind is right planes overhead will disturb them and you can hear them howling loudly. There are lots! There are also feral cats although fewer since the coyote population exploded.
There are sometimes break-ins in the parking lot. Although Pacifica is a sleepy town exercise normal cautions when leaving your car - leave no items on show. ...
Read moreUsed to be safe parking for my house less friends. Always clean & about 10 RV each night. Never a bad place. I am not homeless & felt perfectly safe driving there at night. I was glad there was a public space for our RV friends to find safety.
Tonight was a big empty space. Why? No one is using the space at night anyway!! I guess there’s no happy new year for my house less friends. Shame on Pacifica for not helping neighbors in their time of need.
Unless they’re doing it for safety as Muscle Rock is both directly under aircraft path AND directly on the San Andreas fault line. But I suspect Pacifica home owners above were bothered by our local auto dwellers.
This is why ppl have no where to go. Why the f$&@ is a public space closed to running driving RVs who need a safe place? It’s MUCH better than them living in bushes on cliffs nearby. The only solution right now besides building thousands of new low income units is is TOLERANCE. Live with it or leave CA and go live in a frozen wasteland...
Read moreThis is a nice little park with limited parking that offers stunning views of the Pacific ocean. The views are worth the trip alone. Because SFO is nearby, you'll have plenty of jets flying in and out for you to look up at. There's a trail that takes you for a loop around the area and there's a beach nearby but to get to it you'll need to climb down some rocks and bring beach shoes or go barefoot to cope with the sand.
Don't know about sharks in the water but you're more than welcome to go into the ocean to find out.
There is a paragliding club of sorts here and who knew that this place is one of the top destinations for that hobby because the wind and elevation is perfect for people who enjoy that hobby.
There are no restrooms so keep that in mind. Parking is quite close so you can always take care of business...
