As matron of honor, I rented the upstairs at Sleepy Creek Vineyard for a bridal shower for my best friend.

I spoke with the owner (Janette) on the phone since the staff had no clue the party of 32 was coming in that day.

Given that I booked the event two months pr one would imagine that would be ample time to notify the staff of our event. The table and chairs were not set up so I took it on myself to set up everything—mind you, I am pregnant. Erik was very helpful and brought up an extra table for food once everything was very kind!

Upon speaking with the owner on the phone and in person, she was extremely rude and demanded I pay $30 extra for arriving 20 min prior to my “set up time”-it is helpful to note I arrived early because we had a winter storm that dumped 7-10 inches of snow the day before. I already paid the $150 set up/venue/tear down price when she asked for the extra $30. After spending 10 min on the phone arguing about what I was there early, I spent the other 15 min she was complaining about, setting up the table and chairs that should have already been set up. In total, we spent an hour going back and forth over the $30 (3 separate, very rude conversations). That time was wasted on pointless conversations and time away from the celebration I put together for the bride.

I can’t emphasize enough, the staff was extremely helpful and over apologetic for the owners behavior and attitude and offered up numerous excuses for their boss, the owner, on top of which they repeatedly said-what might be the most appalling bit of information, “she’s like this with everyone.”

We were told that everything would be set up upon arrival, nothing was; the bride contacted the venue asking about table linens and was assured it would be supplied, the owner berated me in person, and over the phone for having the audacity to expect what we paid for and ranted that they have no obligation for table linens. So we were left with white plastic tables that looked cheap and dirty. Aside from how I, or the bridal shower was treated, I have to emphasize that the owners communication with the staff was terrible, she did not communicate with them about our reservation, and when the staff communicated to the bride that they could definitely provide table linens, the owner completely undermined their directive.

In short, we have 32 guests who will not return or refer this venue for any event. This is really unfortunate because before today, this was a place I would recommend to everyone. The staff did their best but the owner made it painfully impossible for the staff to fulfill agreed upon terms of the bridal shower. Horrible internal communication, terrible customer service and extremely...

What a delightful surprise we found at Sleepy Creek Vineyards through Harvest Hosts! This charming winery in Fairmount, IL offered excellent parking options for our RV, but the real treat was the lively atmosphere we discovered.

We lucked out by arriving on a Friday night when they had live music and $1 hot dogs - talk about a perfect evening! The standout drink of the night was their incredible green apple slushy with caramel - a refreshing twist that hit all the right notes. We also couldn't resist taking home a bottle of their Sour Puss wine to enjoy later.

The parking setup for Harvest Hosts members was well-thought-out and spacious. It's clear they understand and welcome RV travelers, making it an ideal stop for anyone touring through Illinois wine country.

Between the festive atmosphere, wallet-friendly food options, and tasty wines, Sleepy Creek Vineyards offers a wonderful overnight experience. If you're a Harvest Hosts member planning your route through Illinois, make sure to add this gem to...

What a great winery! Beautiful atmosphere and grounds, and very good wines. Especially liked their "unique" wine offerings: Lady Peche, peach wine with a little habanero pepper infused! And Winey Mary...tomato and jalapeno wine! Can't wait to try some with some V-8! Of course there are other great wines to taste too...all at a very fair price! Knowledgeable and personable sommelier. 🌠 Perfect Harvest Host overnight stop on our way back home to NY state! Going to comment on a few of the other reviews: one talked about rodents...saw none but it is a rural area and there are mice in fields, hence, the cats (that someone mewed about) that are around and very friendly..who help keep the mice in line. Another person complained about the price for a glass of wine...I suggest this person try a few other places who sell glasses of wine for 12$ to 14$.

Do not let the whining comments keep you from wining there! Try it...

I came up with a nifty set of questions you can ask yourself to decide if you would enjoy it here. If your answer is yes to any of these questions head over ASAP. Is your favorite style wine actually cough medicine? Have you ever been to a pizzaria and thought "I wish this was made in a factory, frozen and then warmed up in a toaster oven"? Do you like cutting artisinal cheese with a cheap plastic serrated knife? Do you enjoy wineries with rodent infestations? Do you think Ritz crackers are simply sublime? Also, in our short visit we observed four American flags that were defaced. Thanks for that.

Went out for a day to do a wine tasting and relax. The wines are ok - nothing really special, but the atmosphere was very nice. We did our wine tasting at the tasting bar and then selected a glass to take outside and drink, even though it was a bit chilly. They've got a fair amount of picnic tables, and some people had brought there own chairs. I like that you can bring your own food (we hadn't, but it would have been a good idea), or purchase cheese from them. They've got an assortment of games which was a nice touch. We grabbed one and took it outside with us while we enjoyed the wine.
