Beautiful stand of old oaks and prairie. Wide gravel paths, around 2.5 miles of trails. Popular spot for jogging, with some decent elevation for the area. Huge diversity of oaks and other plant species, even though it is not a huge preserve there are woodlands as well as open prairie. Good parking and port a potties available. Just a mile or so from the shopping extravaganza at 355 and boughton this place is an amazing refuge from the hustle and bustle!!

I was very pleased. Trail or dog enthusiast galore. This place has a Massive dog park that is well kept and laid out. Nice trail, plenty of space and a nice loop offering a short or longer trail. Clean port o let (port a potty), and decent parking. Lot was clean, and a plenty of trash bins. I will surely revisit this location. Well done

One of the smaller Forest Preserves in the area. Still a lot of variety, with woodland, some open prairie, a few creeks and ponds, rolling hills, and a winding path through it all. Usually not crowded, and a plus for dog owners is that the path is starting just next to the entrance to the off-leash area.

I lived in a house that once stood within the Preserve back in the early 1960s. It was a wonderful place to grow up. Sheep were pastured on the corner closest to the intersection of Lemont Rd. and Oldfield Rd. There were woods all around us and there was a path through them to the Fredenhagen's home to the south. I used to play that I was Little Red Riding Hood and kept a sharp eye out for wolves. We used to attend Center Cass School which has long since been replaced by a Walgreens, We'd ski across to school using a route sort of parallel to Brookridge Rd. That being said, the Preserve is beautiful and while I miss the house, it's...

This could be 5 stars but they continue to cut down Oak trees.. In the area where the Woods are meeting the Prairie they continue to protect the Prairie and cut down or burn up young Oaks that had already achieved a five to seven foot height. Sad that Oaks are considered the enemy and that Prairie is prioritized over Forest when it is called Forest Preserve.

Putting that aside it is a smaller peaceful beautiful neighborhood chunk of nature.

Not enough size for biking but for walking...
