Ten years ago, Fisher Farm was a pretty wild place with beautiful meadows, creek and 50 acre hillside wood with beautiful trails. A few wooden benches scattered around gave it a cozy, natural get-away feel. However, the county parks people made it over and added their trademark asphalt parking lots, steel benches, mounted in cement pads, ugly concrete stream culverts bordered by ugly rip-rap stone, and the piece-de-resistance, a 12 ft. wide asphalt road that they call a "greenway," right through the middle of the beautiful pastures, absolutely destroying the natural paradise. They also added an electric gate that closes before dusk, so if you like strolling in the dusk, forget it. Now it looks like every generic county park. It has been said that the first loves of county park managers are fences and asphalt, and anything anchored...
Read moreThis is a lovely little park with some great walking and biking trails. Even on gorgeous days it's not super crowded, whereas other nice area parks like Jetton tend to be packed. This is a perfect spot to get in a nice couple mile walk. It's not a place for more rugged hiking, but I wouldn't really expect that so close to the city. My only complaint is that it seems that many dog owners disregard the signage about keeping dogs on leashes throughout the park (despite there being one specific area designated for off-leash play). I love dogs, but I'm not a fan of having dogs I don't know jumping on me while I'm...
Read moreGreat place to hike and take your dog. There are flat sections for a good walk, paved walk ways and picnic tables too. The mountain bike trails are rugged and mostly single track (great for running trails too). If you do go on the mountain bike trails to hike or run, please pay attention. The place was originally build for mountain bikes and have the right of way on the trails. They are narrow and built for speed for the mountain bikes. That being said, everyone can use them but pay attention so everyone can have a great, safe time. It is a great place to...
