The first thing that strikes you when you enter the park is the giant hill built from a garbage dump. If you live in Florida any hill is a weird sight indeed. What was once landfill has been now transformed into a beautiful park. Running and biking all over the hill were people. Old, young, in shape, and those working on getting in shape. I drove to to the top to get a better look. Standing on top of a hill is a surreal experience in Florida. At the top is a beautiful view of a canal and buildings including a church. After taking in the view I headed off to the right and the trail took me to a steep paved hill which people were sprinting up. I didn't have workout clothes on but I did have my sneakers and I couldn't resist trying it out. It took me two minutes to get up to the top and when I did I felt every muscle in my leg burning. I did it two more times and was able to fulfill the floors on my fit bit app, a goal I don't normally achieve because I just don't have stairs in my daily life. I can see why everyone loves this place, it takes your work out to a whole new level. In addition to the runners there were other people who brought entire trailers full of workout equipment. I saw one guy dragging huge weights as he ran. I even saw people horseback riding. Also located at the top of the hill is a section for people flying model airplanes.
After I finished my run I went to explore the rest of the park. At the bottom of the hill and to the left is a boat launch area. If you go to the right there is a fishing dock, basketball courts, playgrounds for the kids, and a fitness loop at the very back with different stationary exercise stations set up along it. If I had more time and the proper clothes I would have really liked to explore that. I can see why everyone comes here. I can't think of any where else in South Florida that you can add a hill to your running workout. The entry fee is also very reasonable. Free on weekdays and $1.50 weekends and holidays. If I lived closer I would come here all the time. I wish they would do something similar to the garbage dump in...
Read moreare you kidding me ?????Fourth of July and we normally go 2 the park on Pine Island Road right off of 595, had for the last 10 years.. there was a sign saying that the 4th of July event was moved to this park. We're all waiting for fireworks to go off but there are none they want us to sit on a hill and watch everybody elses and none of the signs made that clear!!!! No fireworks for us or the families that sat there or the people that had to drag their 2 year olds up a freaking Hill!!!! most disappointing Fourth of July ever and on top of that the people directing the traffic were rude trying to act like SWAT team not Park employees. They even charged to park don't care if it's just a dollar fifty( per person) to get into the park when it has always been free probably wouldn't have minded it if there had been Fire Works!!!!! never go back to a park in Broward County for a Fourth of July again....... update ,,,,,, so they reply to my review which I only gave you one star cuz there's nothing lower if you want to leave something !!!!!y'all may have been doing this for years but the town of Davie wasn't part of it and the signs directed us to Vista View none of the signs said that there would be no fireworks if I wanted to watch fireworks from that far away I would have stayed home and watch them on TV and no we've never been charged admission for the 4th of July and we've been going to that Davie park for 10 to 12 years obviously I'm not the only unhappy person I have seen a few more reviews that weren't kind either.. could have took all those thousands of dollars you got from the entry fee and put on your own fireworks show. OR YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HONEST AND JUST SAID OUR EVENT...

The big deal about Vista View are the ginormous hill that once was a landfill. You can't even tell it was ever a landfill. It's not as high as the other godzilla-sized active landfills but it is so tall, you see the majority of Broward county cities with the naked eye. As in, several cities lay before you when you are sitting on top of the hill.
You can see landmarks such as the downton skyscrapers, the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel, those really tall apartments by Sawgrass Mall. Maybe on a next visit, I'll see if I can spot the Hollywood water tower. Gotta love living in a super flat landscape.
Vista View's other offers include: plenty of picnic space, benches, grills, shelters for parties; mountain biking; RC airplane flying zones; fishing; kite flying; playgrounds; excercise equipment; I think you can bring your horse and you can definitely bring your dog. If you're lucky, you might get some interesting birding opportunities. Like today, for the first time, I saw a killdeer, which is a type of plover, a shorebird.
My only minor complaint is that it seems there are no restrooms on the top of the hill. Or port-a-potties. I could be wrong but I didnt see any in the area I was chilling in.
Overall, 5-star park, highly...
