I mean, does it get any better than winter at White Grass? Amazing vibe, people, food, music. Oh and perfect cross country skiing! You have to experience it for yourself. My family and I went for a trip to Canaan and we ended up spending as much time as we could at White Grass.
We took the basic lessons with Susie and it was the right amount of technical and fun. Thank you Susie! She showed us the kid-friendly trails at the snow farm and we were off. I went off on some other trails and it was some of the most beautiful and peaceful winter-nature I've ever seen. All the trails were well marked with maps and difficulty level. Maintenance of the trails was impeccable.
When it was time to come home, nobody wanted to leave, including a couple of novice little kid skiers that discovered a new love. The only thing that cheered us up as we drove home was knowing we'll...
Read moreWant to say first off that we didn't ski but we had a late lunch at the cafe, so this is a food review. Great vibe to the place, my partner was able to get great info about cross country skiing which we've never done. It was a Thursday so there were only a few people. The food was great! It was a very cold day so we were looking forward to having soup. We ordered and paid at the counter and food was brought to our table. I did not expect to find a Thai chicken soup on the menu and it was quite good! Just enough spice, chicken was tender and coconut milk added richness. Others in our party had the sausage and white bean soup, their vegetarian chili, barbacoa beef burrito, and turkey panini. All declared delicious and reasonable priced. They had a few local beers on draft, too. Service was friendly and quick. Can't wait to...
Read moreWhite Grass is delightful! The staff was friendly and helpful. Two friends and I wanted to try cross-country skiing and needed equipment rentals and access to their trails. They were enthusiastic and provided lots of suggestions for novices like us who were trying it out for the first time. The Snow Farming technique they use instead of making fake snow keeps energy use and therefore their costs low, so we had fun all day on the trails without spending nearly the same as we have on downhill skiing lift passes. When we returned the next day, multiple people remembered us and welcomed us back. The lodge had delicious food and hot cocoa for reasonable prices too. We didn't partake, but they were advertising free or inexpensive snowshoeing and kids activities on Sundays. Fantastic fun for the...
