We have been avid goers of DSP for several years now, and always have a fantastic time. Last night, however, was a vast contrast and disappointment. I would love nothing more than to come back and change this review, if the standards of previous years were seen. But I digress.
We had a rather large group. There were 10 of us in total. One of the members of the group was wearing clothing as a tribute to her deceased child, as was another member. One of the clowns, only description I can really give is younger, with rainbow dread-looking things in his hair (lighting makes it tough sometimes to get details) was making fun of the appearance of said deceased child on the clothing. I understand being in character, but when the young woman said he was deceased (recently, this was her first trip out for some fun since losing him), that should have been a signal to full stop on that subject. But no. This clown doubled down, making jokes about something he had been made aware to drop as it was not up for play, and the young woman got quite upset. He then went on to harass, saying she could fight him and 2 other males if it bothered her so much. Thankfully the group was able to get her moving to get away from the male, but at that point in the trail, her money spent and enjoyable experience was done. She just went through the rest of the trail wanting it to be over. Not a good look for the actor, or their haunt.
Also, very few actors in the scenes. Very low energy as well. It's actually painful to see such a bad trip when we are avid haunted house people, and look forward to this specific haunt annually. Usually 3-4 times a season as it is a favorite of ours. Not sure what was going on last night, but was very let down in multiple aspects.
*EDIT TO NOTE-, as the owner seems to have one response to any negative post- I do not give petty reviews based off of anyone's opinion of anything. This review is based solely off of OUR experience last night. The young woman in question who was put into a very distraught frame of mind after asking an actor for a full stop on ONE SUBJECT and was literally threatened with having to fight THREE staff members, is my adult daughter. I would never report a review in false pretense. Hopefully the owner will see this and know that I have been a loyal DSP goer for many years now. And am not "giving false information for the benefit of any other place...

Secondly, when we arrived around 8:30 or 9 we noticed as we were getting our tickets that all of the actors were out walking around and hanging out in circles instead of getting to their places to scare. There was a lot of empty spaces on the trail where actors couldnhave been. Their costumes looked very cheap and didn't fit the role of the character they were portraying....example -- Michael Myers has a one piece long sleeve suit that he wears along with a large knife....this Michael Myers here wore a cut off white Tshirt and jeans---with no knife....and when I mentioned to him how bad his costume was he looked like he was ready to kill me following me through the trail. Not to mention getting stuck in the trail with 3 "women" one of them telling us about some shots she got in her private parts and repeatedly used the N word...like every other word. This woman in particular talked a lot of crap like she was tough and as soon as the chainsaws came out she pinned me back against the wall behind her bc she was scared. We were lost in this trial for over an hour with these weirdos. No one would help us find our way out...we were getting very frustrated bc we were being lead into a dead end or back the way we came originally. It was very confusing being trapped in this maze with about 30 other people all of us going different directions. Definitely took the fun, scare and suspense out of it. Not to mention when I cut my hand open on a nail that was sticking out of a skid. The mats that were on the ground made it very difficult to walk through the maze and the little refrigerators used as tunnels are not a wise choice for a larger person to crawl through. Should be a safety hazard. It was a very poorly organized attraction and most certainly a waste of $20 and the hour drive there and the 3 hours we spend there.
You responded claiming that I said "vulgar" things....which I never did. Can you speak to what I said?? Because I'm not aware of any vulgar things I said. Must have mistaken me with one of your other unhappy customers. I just don't think you wanted the negative feedback on your Facebook page so you deleted my comments. We will never be back to the horrible...
Read moreDayton Scream Park is over priced and not really worth it. They Say there's 4 Mazes however its really only 1 Trail thats cut up into sections. Then if you pay an extra $20 you can get a skip a line pass which I was assuming meant you could skip the line for 4 mazes when in reality you skipped the line for the trail. But you also get access to a 4th maze. But that 4th maze is literally a maze. No scare actors you just wonder aimlessly trying to find the exit.
Also I paid $40 and I'm only able to do the maze once which is bs. If I paid that much for literally 1 maze then I should be able to do it as many times to get my moneys worth. Keep in mind that it's just under $40 for Kings Island Haunt where you can get unlimited rides and mazes for the night. So honestly i should of just paid $75 to do Land of Illusion and get the skip the line pass there where they have 7 seperate mazes. Man this was a waste of money
There wasnt that many scare actors and very few memorable moments. I like that its all in the woods. There was a room with just a table and a bottle of Hand sanitizer which I thought was funny.
There was another room with a bunch of fridges and no where to go and then out comes a clown from one of them and you go into that fridge to continue along the maze. I thought that was cool. .
There was a room with leatherface in it. He had a chainsaw and was cutting up a dead body and water squirts on you when he does it. That was a nice touch.
The beginning of the maze had you walking through the woods and you could see a scare actor in the distance. That was cool for the creepy factor however it probably would of been better if they just hid in the trees.
There was also a room that had a guy in a cage and he had a stick that would create sparks when he hit the cage. That was a cool effect to see the sparks fly.
Also it felt weird to walk in some areas cuz they have these weird mats on the floor that makes you feel like youre stepping on, im guessing entrails or bugs. It just felt weird on my feet. Also This place aint made for big people. Lots of crouching and tight spaces. There was one lady who quit a maze saying this aint made for fat ladies (lol)
Overall I would say spend a little extra and go to Land of Illusion (which i never been to but i bet its better...
