Lake Decatur — Attraction in Decatur

Not a whole lot to do, which really begs one to ask why its here. Sure, it's cool in the summer, but we haven't really got a lot of restaurants on the lake for the winter or anything attractive to see. In the summer, the park district really seems to neglect cleaning the... messes that geese and other wildlife leave on the sidewalks. Trash lays about and it really doesn't shine a good light on the whole place as a whole. It seems the city if more focused on their new Outlook Park, which is cool and all, but has already lost a lot of traffic over the last summer compared to summers past. It seems strange to me that we would neglect an entire lake with a lot of potential, but I'm not a voice to be heard...

Best lake in central Illinois. Pros-plenty of boat launchs, lots of cool little inlets for chilling, some wildlife, some nice houses to look at, not too many other people creating wakes and whatnot, lake staff are helpful and personable. Cons-water is not pristine but better than other grimey central Illinois lake water (springfield), also need a few more potty options.
