Beautiful area. This is a more remote and traily kind of area if that makes sense. Trails on trails here. It's a really cool spot and especially if you're looking for solitude for a few hours. Need somewhere to walk for a while and meditate or reset your mind and to gain focus in your life. I found myself walking 3 miles without intending to just because i lost myself in my mind and the dog also loved it. This is not the kind of place with alot of amenities and sometimes that's where you'll find hidden gems of nature. Only 1 car was there while I was and it doesn't seem like it gets a ton of traffic. That's a total plus in my book.

Nice off the beaten path trail. Have lived in the area five years and just heard about this nature trail. It has a nice parking lot with a rustic restroom. There aren’t any in the trail so go before you go. I walked about five miles the day I was there an only saw one other person. It is a beautiful walk. It varies between prairie, woods, marsh, lakefront and has many different trees, flowers, birds and many other animals running around. There is a nice observation area that overlooks the river. The photo is attached here. Enjoy this beautiful trail!

Great place for a hike! It can be a little crowded at the trailhead depending on the day, but once you get further out the crowds really thin out. If you decide to wander off the main trails, be careful—one side trail I took ended up being closed. I didn’t see the sign until I popped out on the other end, and it made sense since about three-quarters of the way through it got pretty gnarly. Lots of wildlife, a nice variety of trees, and some solid ups and downs along the way. Overall, a really fun spot to explore!

Absolutely gorgeous trail, here’s my full review:

It gets VERY busy, to the point where there’s no parking spots left. If you enjoy a quiet peaceful walk with no disturbances then come during the weekdays, at unusual times. I rarely have this place to myself.

Ticks are HORRIBLE in the fall and spring, avoid the grassy areas during those times. I have had my dogs come home with 3-5 ticks just on their faces. Wear long pants, and socks. Keep your dogs on preventative and always go over them when you arrive home. Lyme is no joke!

There are multiple structures in here which I love! There’s a wooden lookout, wooden bridges, a BEAUTIFUL dock, and some old stone building remnants. I love using this place for my photography. Wildlife is abundant, always seeing deer, cranes, owls, birds, raccoons, groundhogs, etc. Great for my wildlife photography.

Be aware that a lot of people off leash their dogs, I have no idea if this is allowed here but they do. Some are very well trained, others are not and will run up to you. My dog isn’t friendly and I have had to yell at owners to get their dogs.

Another thing worth noting, I have seen numerous people dressed in camouflage coming out of off trail areas with bags and foldable chairs. Typically in the early morning, I do not know if hunting is allowed here, or if that’s even what they’re doing, I don’t know. Just worth noting.

In conclusion this is a good trail that I do walk frequently, just in the months after the ticks die down. I absolutely love this place for photography, it’s beautiful and has gorgeous sunsets. I do...
