Been coming here since we were kids...grew up on Odessa area..we used 2 have so much fun here bck in the day...its just not the same ( went there arnd late Aug)..i agree lots of trash around (there were trash cans guess its 2much trouble 2 use them) .walked dwn boat ramp just to gaze & see the boat passing....walkng bck saw 2 dead fish carcasses (Carp) floating in water & just on awful smell in the air...not bad 2 sit & enjoy view (minus power plant)..seeing the dead fish & debris in water& how dirty the water is ..It surely isn't a place 4 swimming(sme ppl say they swim here😱 good luck with that!!..wouldnt eat anything caught out of her either!!..Overall knowing what it USED to be is what gets me 2 drive by every now & then and think of childhood...
Read moreThis little slice of beach could be the perfect area to walk, hang out, fish, picnic, bring your dogs, etc. for the locals or out-of-towners. There is a huge parking lot to withstand a decent amount of traffic, if only it wasn't so trashed. Trash was everywhere... in the brush, rocks, trails, road ways, marsh and on the beach areas. The trails, or something like it, were overgrown with nature and the whole area isn't maintained with any care or love at all. I found broken glass with every step I took- even on the waters edge! There is lots of driftwood to take, a decent size boat ramp, and a clean port-a-potty (atleast when I was there.) One nice weekend with about 50 people could clean-up this whole area in no time!!! He loves it, too! The water can get very muddy and yucky during low-tide, so if you’re looking to go swimming it’s best to go during high-tide.
