Attended a retirement party over the weekend. What a scenic place w fabulous view ofTrap Pond. This is a very clever use of a state owned and maintained public beautifully constructed building. I have been coming here since 1958 and sleeping on primitive spots as the Park has matured. We miss the white sandy beaches but super well maintained and clean area patrolled by helpful police staff and the real manager is on the grounds as well. Visit the store for t shirts to ice cream. If you can't catch fish here you are not trying. This place is a little bit of heaven. Quiet in winter busy in summer. Open all year and please don't trash this paradise. It's carry in and out. Delaware hidden gem in the tall woods. Halloween is very spooky and special! Color views from bridge looking upstream in fall are calendar perfect and a full moon here rivals the beach without the caps or traffic. New safe walkways for foot traffic or bike paths all way to secret spots at Raccon Pond through a well maintained deer...
Read moreThis place is a relatively "new addition" to my favorite place in De. (Trap Pond State Park)...although it's probably close to a decade old by now.
My husband and I married at Trap Pond nearly 20 years ago...and the reason for our visit a couple of weeks ago is because my daughter married there, too!
Her reception was held in this beautiful structure which is part of the Visitor's Center, situated in the park to take advantage of the BEAUTIFUL vistas. The staff and Rangers are wonderfully helpful and very informative.
We not only enjoyed the reception, but learned a lot about the native wildlife and ecology of Trap Pond and the Bald Cypress...
Read moreVery nice nature center. Beautifully preserved animals that were found deceased in the park or nearby forested area. Nice hands on activities for children. Lots to touch and feel. Educational video clips. Nice tank with the local fish in it that can be caught in Trap Pond. Lots of cool things to look at. It also has a nice background information about the history of Trap Pond. Highly recommend if you are at this state park. Good information to know and things to look for as you walk...
