My mom called them a few weeks ago to ask about planning a small (10-15 people) bridal shower for me, she had never been before and wasnât sure what needed to be done and she was told that they didnât have anything planned that day and we were more than welcome to come on. Well what a welcoming event we had! I arrived a little after 1(we were literally the only ones there) and my mom told me a woman invited us to use their banquet room as it was not being used and had plenty of room for her to set up the food she had brought. We had planned on just sitting outside or wherever was available. The woman came back with a wine menu and mentioned the owner would âprobablyâ like us to purchase 6 bottles of wine because that was their rule for parties. My mom told her we were there for the wine slushies and werenât informed of this when she called to ask about having my shower here, she was nice and it wasnât a big deal but we didnât have intentions of purchasing that many bottles of wine when over half of the party doesnât even drink. She walks away and a few minutes later here comes the owner and points at my mom and in a rude tone says âMaâam I need to speak with you.â My mom calmly tried to explain the situation to him and he repeatedly interrupts her and proceeds to tell her that itâs also $50 to use the tables, they have to know ahead of time and make sure an employee is watching over us that we arenât serving anyone underage and he pays $2000 a month for insurance, threatened to call the police, called her a LIAR, and when my sister had enough and tried to stick up for my mom he told her to âback off and lose her attitude.â Keep in mind that during this whole altercation he was raising his voice, pointing fingers at my mother and stepping towards her. She eventually had enough of trying to explain herself and turned away and he said âdonât walk away from me maâam.â I wish we had just packed up and left. By the time this was over everyone was there for my shower and a little while later my sister and I stepped outside to talk to my SIL on the balcony who arrived after this incident happened. I was talking and explaining the very frustrating situation to her and here comes the employee to inform me that âthey have cameras and he is in his office listening to what weâre saying so please be mindful of that.â After that we finished, cleaned up, took pictures, my mom gave the woman $50 and we left. Keep in mind that it was almost everyoneâs FIRST time there and this is the impression they got? If you read all of this thank you so much and I hope you will think twice about visiting this place, I recommended it to so many people and love their wine but after seeing the owner treat my mother that way I will...
Read moreWe took a road trip down to this area to visit an orchard and I saw signs for Woodmill Winery. I was hoping that they were open today. I had my daughter check and they were open! I was very excited as a lot of wineries aren't open in the beginning of the week.
The vineyard is beautiful as well as the tasting room. Ashley, who was amazing, welcomed us into the tasting room. Ashley was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I loved her personality and vibe!!!
She did go over the wines and asked if I wanted to do a tasting. I told her that I couldn't because of a long drive home and that I would be driving, the next day, a wine tour in the Yadkin Valley area. I told her that I was going to buy some wines and have them later this week. Ashley helped me with my wine choices. I chose the semi-sweet wines. Also the wines labels are beautiful! Looking forward to tasting the wines and...
Read moreGorgeous views surround the winery, creating a sense of peace and calm. Not only do the vineyards cover the front of the grounds, but they extend far behind the winery as well, with picnic tables and a quaint, little pond.
Everything about the tasting room was inviting, from the large porches to the walls lined with jellies, jams, and work by local artisans. We had a special surprise as staff had created beautiful place settings in preparation for a wedding. They graciously offered to provide us with a tasting of our choosing.
Exploring the vineyard is always a must for us when visiting a winery with vines on the grounds. We picnicked after our tasting, enjoying the scenery, and walked the grounds to take in all that we possibly could.
WoodMill Winery is a winery that you wonât...
