Beautiful place to visit! NOTICE to visitors: the high bridge is currently closed to the public! We drove up from Indy and wanted very much to cross and get some pictures. We were very disappointed!! I learned from a reliable source (the mayor of Delphi who was on the trails just by chance) that upgrades to make the bridge safer and more accessible for everyone are underway. Only half of the bridge will change. The other half belongs to a private owner. Anyway, the railroad ties will be removed. Railings will be installed. Changes are due to be complete in 3 or 4 weeks (as of 11-10-2022). I’m sure the bridge will look very different than the many photos I’ve seen. We’ll surely miss having the opportunity to walk it before its historic condition is gone. I still gave 5 stars, though. We still very much...
Read moreMonon High Bridge Trail is not easy to get to. My Google Maps kept taking me to random drive ways and empty fields. It was only once I drove past the bridge was I able to find the gravel parking lot. The parking lot is small but I doubt it will ever fill up. There are trail heads and markers along the route. The Bridge is quite nice and there are signs and plaques that list information related to the bridge. I would recommend stopping to read those, because after that there isn't much. The trail has some over looks of the river and finding those aren't very hard. There is a section of the trail that goes directly to the Wabash River. I didn't experience any fallen branches or any rough patches along my way along my walk. It was an easy walk and there isn't...
Read moreNice very clean trail. Fairly recent trail maintenance. Walked the easy trail .8 mile from the pedestrian bridge over SR 25 to the trestle over Deer Creek. Trestle has been upgraded with railing and new walking surface. Not scary and nice view of the creek. Only thing that would make it better is if the upgrades went completely across the trestle. Remainder of trestle has the railroad ties still in place but is blocked by the new railing. Definitely safer. Take in the Canal trail as well if...
