Always very clean with plenty of parking. The staff is wonderful and very friendly too. Handicap parking available within 10 ft of the bathroom door (just drive around the regular parking lot and you will come to the driveway for the handicap area just to the left of the road). Great walking paths and a very nice little bee garden to walk around. Only thing is at night it's not as well lit closer to the building as it should be. That can be a little creepy sometimes. I usually carry a knife or pepper spray when walking up that way at night and keep my phone on me at all times ready to send my SOS should something happen. There's picnic areas, divided parking for large trucks and rv's and small cars. I could be mistaken, but I believe there is a dog walk area as well, but I usually see people just walking around the Northern part of the grass. Very easy to get to whether you are heading North or South on Hwy 75/69 and I like to stop here instead of the smaller Choctaw Nation rest area just over the Red River Bridge in Oklahoma. edit there are 2 restroom areas. One is inside during business hours and that is also where you will find the flyers and pamphlets, maps and whatnot about different attractions in the area. There is also a Family Restroom inside, but at night the main doors are locked to where you can't access the restrooms from that side, so you can't get to the...
Read moreFacility was clean and easy to access. Parking was close by and sidewalks were clean. Two welcome center staff members were on duty. One gentleman was very nice, personable, and welcoming. We discussed the Outer Banks of NC, when he found out we are from Coastal NC. The other staff member was not welcoming, at all, and came around from behind the counter to loom over me while I was choosing brochures. He spoke to me in an annoyed tone when he told me that the info on the brochures that I was choosing was already in the pre-bagged booklets...not the full brochures, mind you, just a little paragraph here and there. He acted very aggravated when I told him that I enjoy individual brochures, as well as the booklets, so that we can choose our weekend adventures while my husband is working in Texas for an undetermined amount of time and that I use the brochures in scrapbooks, virtual & paper, after we visit an area. I'm not sure what the problem was, as I didn't take multiples and I didn't even take one of everything, only what I was interested in! (Note to towns and tourist areas in Texas: If your brochures aren't being picked up at the Denison Travel Center, it may be because of this staff member being...
Read moreMy goodness! I am soooo happy that we made it to this location before they closed at 5pm. The docents were so kind. They were very friendly and knew their info so well. I LOVE travel centers, and I save every pamphlet from my travel adventures.
The state of Texas is huge, and this center has info for the entire state. Plus, there are wildflowers planted at the location. This was my first siting of bluebonnets, and I couldn't have been happier. There was one lonely clump of indian paint brush amongst the bluebonnets. It made me so happy to see this beautiful flower.
This is a fabulous travel center and a fantastic introduction to the great...
