We have been going to keystone for 36 years! Almost my entire life! We always have an amazing time! But today, I spilled a bag of sun chips from my lap, and a goose with a cleft beak came up to me and started eating the chips like he was starving! I literally never saw a goose eat that fast! He must have loved them! But as I was sitting there talking to the goose a man, who claims to work there for the last 2 weeks, inserted himself into mine, and my children's time, to harass us! Telling me I'm breaking the law and I'm not allowed to do that, as I told him I spilt the chips on accident, he started threatening to have me arrested and all this crazy talk! So we ignored him and started just talking to the goose again, when he made the 5 kids he was with huddle together to make "a plan"! After they huddled, him and the oldest kid with him (15-17 y/o), attacked the goose and literally chased the poor thing into some tall grass at the complete opposite end of the beach! where Lord knows what they did to the poor goose! It was THE sickest thing I've ever witnessed at Keystone! and if this man works for the park I hope he is fired! I tried to call the park number to report him but I didn't get an answer. I read all the signs and the only thing I saw was don't chase or attack wildlife, yet that's exactly what this man did, while telling me I broke the law because I "let" the goose eat my spilled chips! And he had a child do it as well! 🤢🤢 The other 4 kids with him looked disgusted with him as well! They did not go over towards where him and the other boy were for a while. Sad world we live in when a state park worker will hurt a goose who's already had a rough life. 💔🙏🏼 Other than that, we of course enjoyed our time spent there before this awful human inserted himself into our family time. 🤮

We rented four of the modern family cabins for a week for an extended family vacation. It was our third PA State park we have done this in ... and was a great experience. After spending a week at Black Moshanon and Ricketts Glen in past years, I must say this was our favorite. The park is kept in better shape than the other parks (though none are bad) and the grounds crew must be complimented. There's also a few extra amenities that were nice .. at the lake / beach area you can "check out" things like sports gear, corn hole, etc by just giving them your license. The snack stand was top notch and the bath and restroom area were very spacious and clean. The cabins were great as always and have the standard two room setup (one full and the other room has two bunk beds) that all state parks have. It's so nice to have the open floorplan with couch and two chairs next to the full kitchen area and dining room table that seats 6. The kitchen is great with a microwave and full oven and range .. as well as a full size refrigerator. We cooked all our meals and everything worked great. You'll have to bring everything .. cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc, but it's well worth it. The cabins are all semi private and spaced at a nice distance from each other. With renting 4 of them, we were able to have our own space .. but could easily walk to each other's cabins and the kids floated between them all with ease. The beach area and boat launch area are within walking distance of the cabins .. but it's a little hike. We decided to drive down to bring all our stuff easily. We will definitely be back in the future.

It’s always truly epic to vacation in a cabin and Keystone has lovely ones. I highly recommend stopping by the visitors center with your little ones, a very friendly wife and husband volunteer their time to host little activities on the weekend and fun fact finds. Very cute, loved that. The 2 mile bike/hike trail around the lake is great too if you’re not into “deep woods” stuff, well maintained and easy enough for novice riders to handle, or a nice scenic stroll around the lake. The beach was closed due to toxic algae contamination, which was due to the higher heat lately, that’s nature for you, but I’m actually happy they tested for it, parks are not required to do that so it’s nice they want you safe. We took the Pine trail on one hike adventure, it was relatively short, but cute and nice nonetheless. The McCune Run to the Davis Run trail was nice and woodsy, not too hard of a hike (not bike-able, FYI) and lovely/interesting views of swampy areas and lake views, deep woods views. Blackberries grow along the paths which was a fun find for us. :) 4 out of 5 mostly for the lack of separation of your neighbors, total opposite point of a cabin vacation in the woods, they’re basically in the same yard as you, we could hear everyone’s entire conversations.

This is a mama bear of state parks - not too big, not too small, but just right. There are two campgrounds here. The Hillside has 40 sites and 11 modern cabins with one (No 11) being ADA accessible. See my picture of cabin no 10. I found it to be a little more secluded and nicely situated in the woods. The Lakeside campground has 59 campsites and 3 camping cottages. Cabin No 1 is a beauty. (see photo) It's right on the lake with a lakeside picnic table and boat launch next to it. The Keystone Lake is clean and has a nice sandy beach area with a big grassy area in front of it. Shaded picnic tables can be found at each end of the beach. For a large group, pavilion no 2 is very nice (see photo). Somewhat private, it has a large parking area and ballfield nearby. There are 6 trails in the park. The Lakeside Trail is an easy trail around the lake also popular for dog walking. The Davis Run Trail in the northeast section of the park is the longest. There's also a visitor center and separate office in the park. With it's compact layout, everything at Keystone is readily accessible and enjoyable. A great spot near New Alexandria, PA for families, fisherman, and outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors will find a beach and its associated parking lot on the Eastern end of the lake, which is one of the main highlights of the park. Concessions are open during the summer (beginning Memorial Day Weekend) from 10 am until 6 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 10 am until 8 pm Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays. Offerings include hot and cold Food as well as other sundry items. A boat launch can be found on the Northwestern bank of the lake next to NorthWest Boat Rentals. Here visitors can rent rowboats (with or without a motor), kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, and stand up paddle boards by the hour. Personal boats can be used in this lake as well, although there is a horsepower limitation on the lake. This park encompasses 1,200 acres, including its 78 acre lake. There are a number of hiking and biking trails as well as cabins and other campground options for those interested. Although the park is open every day of the year from dawn till dusk, certain amenities must be reserved in advance (such as pavilions for parties). The park office should be contacted in such instances.
