Redondo Park offers a comfortable, flat, paved walked along the beach. When the tide is out it provides a decent rock beach to walk, play, or relax on. There is a boat launch and a few small jetties. Dogs are welcome but are required to be on leashes. There was a spot for free poo bags but they were out on our visit. Parking is available for free in a few spots along the street at the three-way stop, as well as a small paid parking lot. The fees are very responsible, we paid $3.50 for three hours, but again, it's small. There are some trailer parking spots as well, but limited. If you're trying to come during peak hours in the afternoon on beautiful days, just be prepared to wait for a spot. Otherwise Dash Point and Salt Water Park are just down the road. There's a free aquarium on Saturdays but the line was too long and it was too hot for us to wait. Salty's is closed through perhaps early next year, so I don't think there's much other options for food in the immediate area. The sidewalk is right along a busy road, but it's protected by barriers and it's a photo-enforced 25mph speed limit with a speed bump mid-way through. There are ample crosswalks and both sides of the street have side walks, but only the beach side is protected. There are only a few beach access points though so you kinda have to commit if you walk along either. The beach does become private before the end of it, which IMHO shouldn't be a thing but that's not what we're here for. Overall this is a great spot to come enjoy a walk in fresh air and super...
Read moreA beautiful place during the day & at night. One night, My bf brought me here one night when we first began to date. We sat on this huge log by the water, listen to the waves, talked for a few hours...really enjoying the scenery-it was like a movie. There are a few homes & a road that runs parallel to the water, both ways, so there isnt a lot of traffic, and it's can get pretty dark BUT the reflection of the moon on the water & the stars light up the water perfectly. On a Sunday, we went to brunch at Saltys since it's sits right beside the pier, enjoyed the food and being able to see the water right outside our table window. The scenery just puts you in a good mood. This particular Sunday was Sunny out, end of summer. We watch a few guys suit up to go scuba dive. There were people at the end of the pier fishing and i believe one person actually had a crab cage out. A few ladies were paddle boarding and other walking their dogs. It actually wasnt to crowded either. There is actually a really long "boardwalk"that also runs parallel to the water which seems to be about 3/4 of a mile long and you can walk to admire more of the water or the few homes that sit there. I think this is a beautiful place for a date or walk with the kiddos or even a walk alone just for some peace and serenity. Aside from the Saltys, there is also a little coffee stand , some sort of Aquarium, and a small part just across the street. I think if your looking for a place to walk and enjoy cool calm peace, this is def going to be it. Enjoy!...
Read moreThis is a fun place to spend most of a day with friends crabbing and picnicking in the park a few hundred feet away. There is paid parking, including for boat trailers. We were able to find street parking, arriving before 10:00 AM. We've been there twice and one time we did catch our limit of red rock crabs.
In general the folks on the dock are friendly and easy going. On the other hand, only four stars because some of them are rude and speak profanely. Also because I was exposed to more cigarette smoke in one day than I have been all year.
There are two permanent benches with backs to seat three, on the dock, but you need to take your own chair. There is a sink for washing your gear and a couple of showers in case you went down and played in the water, as some folks do. Of course, there are rest rooms, but you had better take some toilet paper.
You can buy ice cream treats and espresso drinks and rent wind surfing gear. Next door is an aquarium that was free last Saturday. I don't know whether it is free every Saturday. My friends enjoyed it but I didn't go.
We enjoy being out in nature, seeing the sea otter and schools of fish, the beautiful view and the seagulls. This is a good...
