Sleepy Hollow Sports Park in Des Moines is hands-down one of the best Renaissance Faire experiences in the Midwest. The entire atmosphere is immersive, with talented performers, authentic costumes, and a village setup that feels like you’ve stepped straight into medieval times. From jousting tournaments to comedy acts and live music, there’s always something entertaining happening around every corner. The variety of vendors is impressive – whether you’re shopping for handcrafted goods or sampling turkey legs and mead, there’s something for everyone. What really stands out is how well-organized and welcoming the event feels. Staff and performers interact with guests in character, adding to the experience without feeling forced. If you’re looking for a full day of fun, history, and entertainment, Sleepy Hollow’s Renaissance Faire is the place to be. I’ll absolutely be returning next season!

It's was fun. Until a group having a company party ruined it for us, and the go-kart attendant kicking us off the track. When you have 5 karts of adults, who were drinking in line waiting for the go-karts going out there with the "if you ain't rubbin' you ain't racin'" mentality, you can expect people getting hit and spinning out. My son was celebrating his birthday and was racing when he was hit (by an adult who threw his beer away in line) and spun out, his friends were cut off (by another adult who was drinking) at the turn and swerved to NOT hit anyone and spun out... this is when the attendant asked we not use our tickets there and accused my son and his friends of being intentionally out of control. This was the third time they were on the go-karts (2 times no issues racing with other kids). These boys were out to have a good time, not hit people or be hit. I have it all recorded and my boy and his friends did nothing aggressive or intentional. Ruined my son's birthday, but no issues for the beer drinking, over competitive, party attendees. Very...

terrible experience… 0 stars if I could. Me & my friends thought we would have a nice fun time last night. We paid $32 each. There was 5 of us. We waited for quite a while, the line was long. We were about to make it to the 3rd house when one of the staff asked to pull my friend aside… we were all so confused because… was it the clothes? (He was dressed as the God of Egypt) but it’s Halloween so it wouldn’t be that…he was surrounded by a couple Police officers and the staff and was asked if he had a weapon on him.. a gun to be specific. Apparently someone in our group “communicated that he had one” He in FACT did not. He was a black man & that was discrimination and racial profiling. It was terrible so have witnessed that & even worse for my friend to experience such thing. We ended up leaving… bc who wants to have fun and finish after that? No apologies were said either. DO BETTER. THAT IS NOT OKAY....
