Whatever is rating this Park 5 stars must have come from RaWanda. The South side of the park hasn't been open for about 2-3 decades, even the barricade blocking the South drive entrance is weathering away. Yesterday 7/14/17 I drove by the South Park next to the I-96 service drive, it has the look of what would happen if an apocalypse occurred and mankind no longer existed, eg.. waist high weeds and grass, even the drive way is being overwhelmed, not visible, and park swing sets and equipment are now just shells of what used to be. I will take a drive through the North entrance or the loop as it's called, even though I have been warned not to go alone, because of the possibility of, I may not be leaving standing up. The last I heard was that the park hasn't been safe for anyone or anything since the early 1980's, and essentially is just a reflection of the Brightmore neighborhood. On an upside I'm certain wildlife are taking refuge and loving it. It would be a botanical dream should you study true botany in an urban area. " just watch your back" The river still divides the park from Google Earth pictures, maybe a bridge was built? The wooded area is actually quite large, but again I don't know if I would walk about to much. Hopefully, really hopefully the park has been eradicated of any potentially dangerous persons. I will see...

I love this park. Made many visits this fall and winter. Some people say there are "shady" people, but every time I am there, it seems really tame. Some folks are parked and enjoying a quiet peaceful smoke in their cars. If some are cruising or doing nefarious things in their vehicles, but that doesn't bother me as it doesn't interrupt the peace at the park. Perhaps it's more live in the summer months. It's almost always quiet and a lovely time when I visit. Lots of deer and peaceful trails. I wish they would add dog bags and a few more trash cans long the river trail. It would be great to add a fenced in area for the pups to play off leash, but there is already a lot of space to run and play. There is a skate park, playground, beautiful sculpture, baseball field, and lots of picnic shelters! My family enjoys this rare access to nature within the...

Nice huge park. I saw a deer yesterday evening. Be mindful if you go in the in the early morning, a lot of suspicious vehicles hanging out and one of them even pulled up to my vehicle opened up the door and kept looking at me. I guess he thought I was there buy some drugs or something I don’t know. But the way the cars were moving throughout the park and the way they were stationed, and the fact that it was all males it is a high probability of drug activity. A male in a minivan saw me, went past me and then stopped at a part where he thought I couldn’t see him. I turned around and walked the other way and got in my vehicle. He pulled off and circle back around the park again. Also I saw a couple of condoms and condom wrappers in the grass near the...

Nature park and walkway is super nice. Area is overgrown to keep it natural. They have benches and signage along the walkway. Plenty of parking when I went at around lunch. The big problem here is the road around the park. This road around the park is full of potholes that are big… so big if you have small or low car you could damage the bottom of your car or get suck. Would give 5 stars if it was not bad condition of the road.

I've enjoyed going to this park for the past couple of weeks. It's beautiful, spacious, and favorite for many birders. Thanks to Leonard Weber, I've been able to see so many things I wouldn't have been able to notice on my own, and I've learned so much about bird nesting habits! It's also a nice place to walk your dog, but please pick up after them! The giant weaved wooden statues are also pretty cool to see. Highly recommend!
