Great getaway!!! Stayed at the DNR campground. Mid may weather pushed to reserve the only cabin a few months early. 4 night stay was the perfect amount. Cabin cost was so worth it. Great option to have heat and a roof. Great morning coffee spot overlooking the lake and a good opening in the canopy for checkin out the stars. Easy access to water and vaults. Both visible. Last day there saw a DNR officer, while in uniform and using a DNR truck, picking only recycleable pop and beer cans from the dumpster for the 10 cents a can. He drove off with a full bag worth a few bucks. Too bad he wasn't cleaning the bathrooms or doing another important part of his job. Watched him at this dumpster for 40 mins. How much government time is wasted for his personal gain that we are paying for twice. His wage paid for by permit and site fees and the money I threw away in deposits due to no recycling...

The trails are disgusting. Why in the world would anyone think it is okay to leave their trash along the river? Every little trail off the path down to the river had trash. Empty water bottles, worm containers, cans of Copenhagen. Really? What are the people doing that are paid to keep the place up???? AND I have to pay upwards of $10 to park? The bathrooms are revolting and need to be emptied and the fish cleaning station dumpster needs to be cleaned too. I was also irritated at the dusches that brought boats and thought it would be great to sit right in the middle of the river instead of leaving where the bank fishers were they totally C blocked our casts. Not to mention their boats stunk and their music was blaring. Once they left we were back to quiet fishing but it was mostly baby brown trout and a couple rainbow on...

This park is awesome! Perfect for a picnic or walk along one of the many trails available. This park is great for the outdoor enthusiast who wants to walk on a natural, unmarked landmark OR if you choose to walk on a trail with newly renovated features such as steps and sidewalks, either are available for your convenience and utilization! The landscape is gorgeous, the area is quiet without much traffic the day I visited. I was able to explore fisheries, hatcheries and more of the outdoor resources that Michigan has to offer! It was a GREAT DAY AND ADVENTURE for me and my loved one. Take a trip to the outdoor life of Tippy Dam, located in the heart of Michigan in Brethren, Michigan, Manistee County. There's also access points for boating and fishing. Salmon is the most popular fish caught...

The nascar of Michigan fall salmon fishing!. It's a fun experience and the day I went people where being polite and courteous but being shoulder to shoulder can stir up tension so be prepared for that because it's bound to happen. Also the parking lot fills up quick. You may find yourself waiting upwards of an hour or more just to park in the lower lot. If you don't mind walking there's amble parking less than an eighth if a mile prior to the entrance. Chest waders are a must! Just muck boots or only hip waders are not enough. You'll want to take a small wagon to haul your gear as well. Remember the hook laws have changed now so read up! $400.00 fine for using treble hooks in the wrong fasit.. Good luck!

Google maps failed to get us there... Lol. No worries, I suggested an edit! We stopped at Pappy's bait and tackle and he gave us the easiest directions. North Tippy Dam road all the way until it dead-ends. Sure enough, very accurate! We parked and embarked a journey down many stairs. It was well worth the walk! The stairs end right at the rivers edge. You can see the dam to your right and a beautiful winding river to your left. My boys said the fishing was fun but not rewarding due to the weather. The hike we took and the views are breathtaking! We really enjoyed all the cold waterfall streams that spring from the steep hillside. We will definitely be back!

This is the place for trout and salmon fishing from summer to spring one can fish from both sides the park side which is 10 dollars a day or free if you have the sticker for MI state oarks and recreation, or for free from tippy dam road which has over 200 stairs going down easy as cake, now going up with a couple of fish will make for an awesome workout. Just remember if you take the stairs side the more stuff you take down the more stuff you will have to carry back up.
