B & K Farms — Attraction in Dickson

On a recommendation from my sister I stopped in this store a day or two after Mother’s Day to pick up some fresh strawberries for my mother who had just had open heart surgery. I was the only customer in the store, there was a teenage kid at the register on his phone and an older guy who came in from the back that I assumed was the owner/farmer. I said hello to them both. As I shopped the frozen meats I noticed by the reflection on the glass that the kid and the adult were snickering and mocking me. I chose to ignore them, get what I came for and get out. After amusing the two by stumbling over a compound bow someone left laying in the middle of the floor, the adult just cracked some joke about me instead of what I would consider adult behavior and moving the bow and making sure I wasn’t hurt and going to sue the farm. A few seconds later I ask a question about a vegetable then I felt a thump on my back. I turn and instinctively look up thinking something fell off the ceiling, then down to find a fist sized wad of paper. I look up at the adult who is laughing hysterically as he darts over to pick up the piece trash and as he grabs my shoulders in a sort of hug he says, “I’m Sorry, He [the teenager] didn’t think I would do it!” I turned and walked out of the store and had to explain why I didn’t return home with the strawberries for Mom. I was born and raised in Dickson. I have NEVER been treated like this anywhere in the world. I am embarrassed for own hometown when I tell this story because it’s definitely not what you expect walking in to rural farm market. I will never return and I will share my experience with anyone who will listen. Bullying is not acceptable behavior at any age.
