We had some very nice views of Dillon lake and the surrounding ski areas from this trail. Due to snowfall we were unable to follow the exact trail and ended up on a 5 mile hike instead of the 2.5 stated on the trail guide. I would also probably mark this trail as moderate with snowfall. There were some inclines that were slick and it was difficult to verify what trail you were actually on. There were also signs of larger animals in the area. Not being familiar with the area we weren't sure if there was anything to worry about at this...

Beautiful hike through mountain scrub, into Aspen forest, and then into pine forest. Very much a "choose your own adventure" hike - anywhere from 2.5 miles out and back with 500 feet of elevation gain to 14 miles to the peak and down a different route. We did 3.5 miles and +/- 700 feet of elevation gain in mid July and loved it. Gorgeous views of Lake Dillon, Buffalo, Red, and Peaks 1 thrugh 7 or 8. Also wildflowers spattered along the sides of the trail. Definitely recommend reading the charts on Cotrex and having a good...

The trail is not well indicated, pretty narrow and slippery due to the snow so I wouldn’t recommend for small children. But it is a really easy hike otherwise. We did the hike in boots and snow shoes are probably not required, at least right now. It’s a beautiful hike and very peaceful. We started the hike at 11:30 and I would say we were in the sun for at least 2/3 of the time. We finished the hike in an hour and a half to two hours. It was a lot of fun and would definitely...

It has gotten very busy on this path. Disappointed that the forest service moved a whole bunch of dead trees onto an area that is generally full of wildflowers in June and July. They also moved the historic original bench from where they moved it a couple of years ago when they changed the path and it is pretty wobbly. Even though it is a no campfire zone they have left these old fire pits full of wood. Seems ready for someone who doesn't know any better to start a fire.
