This was a great hike. I would say moderate because you do have to work some to get to the falls. You start out with elevation in for the first half mile or so but if you do an out and back the vast majority of the return is downhill. Theres a cliff trail that you can loop with to extend the hike a bit. If you choose this option, you have a second period of elevation to match the first. There were folks swimming at the falls today. The water was mild and clear though the website does point to no swimming for safety. The pool is large though and very inviting. It can be managed safely with ease. At the actual falls themselves you can find evidence of visitors with food stuff and a few scraps left behind here and there. Please be mindful to leave this pristine joy of nature as lovely when you leave as it was when you arrived. We all need to work together. Total loop is just over 3 miles and available on all trails. Its easy to get off trail onto alternate trails so I do recommend. Out and back to falls was 2.2 miles. Easily combines with Raymondskill Falls across the road (you will park here) upper parking lot has a restroom, lower does not. Trails are well groomed and wide but trail markers werent highly prevalent. The system would benefit from them.

I used to love this spot for hiking and swimming during the summer. I recently went on a Sunday and took the yellow path to avoid the crowds at the waterfall and the stress if watching people cliff jump. Raymondskill Falls connects to Hacker's and we took the Cliff Trail for the amazing view at the top. Parking has also gotten out of hand so I would recommend avoiding the weekends or arriving early to make sure you have a spot to park. UPDATE: I went over the weekend and it was so much emptier than before. There's a great spot at the top of the waterfall to sit and be away from the crowds so I definitely recommend to continue exploring beyond the falls. Regardless of how cold the water was, people were still swimming and cliff jumping (at their own risk).

This place was packed with people which is not bad to be honest; but playing loud music made it seems like you are in someone else’s backyard pool party. So if you are a nature lover who enjoys tranquility, avoid going on a busy weekend. People jump from top but I’m very sure it is not even 8 feet deep at the bottom so this is very dangerous. Also Google map does not show the correct place to park and it leads to a side of the main road. Set your location to “Cliff Park Trailhead Parking lot” and do a short hike, about 1 mile to this location. Hike is easy to medium.

Scary! Just went today after 4years, and took my 4, 9 and 10 year old boys for the first time. Have been here plenty the last 20 years, without any issue. About 10 mins into the trail leading to hackers falls, 2 black bears crossed ahead of us on the path. 1 stopped and looked back at us. Frightened, without any spray and with small kids, I turned around and prayed like never before and started speed walking back. Didn’t want to run or panic in front of my boys but man was I scared. Luckily, they never came towards us and we made it back. But I don’t think I’ll be going back as you’re at the whims of what the bear feels like doing. If he came after us, we were too far away from the car to...
