Hume is a beautiful lake even in the winter time. The lake is actually a reservoir on Tenmile creek, a tributary of the Kings River. It has an elevation of 5200 feet. You can reach the lake by following the high way 180. The trailhead is about 8 miles from the Kings Canyon Visitor center and the road is relatively easy to drive. The loop trail around the lake is about 3 miles with little elevation. The Parking can be a little crowded during the weekend. The Christian Camp on the west end of the lake is crowded all the times. If you hike during the winter, crampon and trekking poles will be very helpful. There are several decent picnic areas around the lake.

I came here the weekend before 4th of July this year. You can rent a canoe or SUP or bring your own and get in the lake. People’s dogs would jump in and so would some of the people. The water is chilly, but refreshing on a hot day. The malted milkshakes at the snack shop on site were delicious!!!

Calm and peaceful trail. Real gorgeous views that are from a postcard. With no cell reception it really brings you back to the old days and makes you appreciate nature. The calm water and the greenery of the landscape will relax you all day long. Highly recommended area.

The Hume Lake trail is approximately three miles long and follows a paved path around the lake, with a metal bridge below the dam and wooden one above the Ten Mile River. It is frequently walked in nice weather by Hume Lake Christian Camp staff, campers, and guests. The Princess campground opens right up against the lake, and you can find great fishing spots and even a small sand beach on the opposite...
