We were early adopters/adorers of Victoria Island farms: we visited it every season since it opened for picking up blueberries and the experience was always super positive. This year we visited Victoria Island two weeks after they announced the farm is opened for blueberries pick-up, and it was horrible! Blueberries are not even half-ripened, two weeks after the farm was opened for public and there is still nothing to pick up, and won't be for another two weeks. Also, they added a huge parking lot and a food truck, and made "normal" restroom unavailable for public. the owners are clearly going after profits, at the expense of user experience. Read moreI happened to come to Victoria Island Farms by chance when I was leaving Brentwood peach and cherry picking areas. The pretty young lady who greeted us when arrived walked us into the fields to their wonderful berry farm. On the way out, I asked the cashier more about their farm and he shared how his great grandfather started in back in 1965 and they have been growing blueberries for 20 years and this was the first year they opened for self picking. Although it was too hot to spend much time in the fields, we enjoyed delicious lemonade and explored the charming Sabbatical Distillery on the farm. The staff were welcoming and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. They provided cute plastic bags for our blueberry picking, and it was convenient that they accept cards at checkout.
