I've been here twice and I love the peace and quiet. If you want to take the full hike...take both trails on either side of the main dirt road (Orlando Trail?)...altogether it's a little more than 2.5 miles of well groomed grassy paths, little bridges and some elevated walkways. Very low exertion and there's a nice variety of things to look at: the Cannon River, the shelters, plenty of deer, birds (pileated woodpeckers), etc. The fall colors aren't dazzling...yellows, greens and browns...but still very nice. A good number of toppled and dying trees...a nice mix. This would be a good place to take your kids...they'll be tired but it's still a very manageable day trip and hike for metro families. Check it out!...

(from south)Turn right and go to fishing, river access, picnic area, go left and hit the cold-water creek and trails. Dog loves the trails, shallow swimming. Sometimes you'll see trout fishermen. I've walked barefoot up and down the creek area and never had any issues, I wouldn't walk barefoot at the river access here, I would go down the gravel road a bit and use the tubing access. Public, No matter what they tell you, sometimes people get possessive over the landing, it's public access, no parking however. You would have to park at the parking lot and walk down. I've done it barefoot a few times. Always worth a trip down the river or a trip for the...

Explored this park recently and had a great time. It is tucked away off the main road so you don't get any unnatural noises, which is important because the best part about this place is the birds - it was LOUD with bird calls of all types! The trails are a little short and flat so it isn't the place for a true hiker, but if you like to be in nature, hear/see birds, and catch some views of the creek and/or river it's a great...

Quaint little park in the middle of farm country. Trails were very private as most of the activity is on the river itself. Many canoes, kayaks. Pavilions are beautiful little structures, each with built in counter/serving areas next to the grill. Lots of shade and a cool breeze on the figure eight trail. But nothing spectacular to note. A quaint little park with lots of butterflies. ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ„

The trail itself was fine. There were some trees to climb over or move around but nothing these old bones couldn't handle. It would AWESOME if some trails were in the hills climbing and dropping. The river was swiftly running and several duck species will milling about.

Rented trout brook pavilion on June 10th. Beautiful space for any outdoor gathering. Thank you, to Dakota county staff, for providing extra picnic tables to suit our needs. I shall return soon, and leave little to no trace.
