Southern New England Trunkline Trail — Attraction in Douglas

We walked this trail from South St., Douglas to Wallum Lake Road Bridge and this section is one of the worst trails we've been on. The only positive is that nature is beautiful. The negative is that off road vehicles have turned up the path so badly that it's hard to walk on. It's like walking on sand at the beach. We went by a beautiful pond but there was no place to sit and enjoy the views, or even consider having a picnic. There are better maintained rail trails...

Very beautiful and shady. Cool interpretive signs along the trail depicting historic train crashes. Trails are well labeled. Trail itself needs some work - trap rock is very bumpy and there are drainage issues. Riding is okay if riding a bike with a suspension fork, but it's quite difficult for gravel bikes. Roadies, probably...

This starts in franklin ma. Ends in Putnam Ct. There are breaks along the way. The longest continual trail is in uxbridge beginning of Douglas state forest. 20 mile stretch. Many trails hiking paths. Some portable outhouses in spots. Very scenic trails...
