I wasn't sure what to expect here because the reviews I had seen did not spell out the process. This is an Amish home that you can tour for a fee. The pricing breaks down home, schoolhouse, buggy separately but it's $13.95 for adults for all three and well worth it. You pay in the gift shop and they have guided tours when they get a group together. Our wait was 15 minutes and there were six of us. Our tour guide was not Amish but very knowledgeable about Amish culture and tradition. She has things she tells you related to every room in the house and she was open and patient with questions. The house tour ends in the kitchen where there were baked goods for sale that were baked right in that kitchen. (Cash only). After house tour we stopped to put baked items in car and we got separated from others at the barn tour. There was a young Amish woman who met with us separately and we were able to ask questions and pet the animals (kittens! Goats! Horses! Puppies!). Then we walked over for the buggy ride which was two loops around this small area on the farm. The driver was Amish man and so friendly. It gave you a feel for what it was like. He was open to all kinds of questions. Do the wheels get stuck in the snow? How old are kids when they start driving? Are auto drivers a pain? After the buggy we went to the schoolhouse. A young Amish teacher was the tour guide. Again, super friendly. She gave a short presentation and then was open to questions. All in all we spent two leisurely hours. My husband said time went by fast. Aside from the kitchen there is no food so come after breakfast. Also note Amish house has 2 flights of stairs (one up, one down) so you ability to see whole house is limited if you don't do stairs. Please note do not take pictures of the Amish without their asking. Pictures go against their...
Read moreAbsolute horrible experience don’t waste a dime here. I come here a few times a year and never had a problem until today with the same gift shop employee. I pulled in and parked with my mom and children my kids were excited to see the farm cats so I told my mom to head in the gift shop as the kids wanted to take a few minutes to play with the cats. A gentleman asked if we were there for a tour or buggy ride I said no just to visit gift shop he said well if you change your mind you can purchase tickets inside I said thank you and proceeded to enter the gift shop to do some shopping where I was verbally attacked by the woman employee yelling at me and my children that we needed to enter through the other door to the gift shop and how did I get onto there property and just kept repeating herself . Again I wasn’t there for a tour just to shop there was no reason for all the yelling I purchased nothing from them and also told others I was meeting there not to support them in buying a single thing from them. The employee then was telling another employee that we went over a white fence and were touring. We weren’t even on that side so for her to falsely accuse us of doing so was completely uncalled for.?I spend a lot of money in this area the other businesses surrounding them will continue to get my money but NOT Yoders...
Read moreOne of the only amish farms you can actually visit and get a look into how the Amish families live their daily life. This is the Amish farm that Vanilla Ice did a show on for 2 seasons. It's beautiful it's still a working farm with 160 acres. Get there early and beat the crowds so you can enjoy the tour of the barn with all the animals, the family house, the school house, and a real buggy ride with Martin or Daniel. Don't forget to buy some baked goods at the end of the house tour with daily goodies from Edna and Elsa hard work. It's so reasonable how you can not buy some fabulous cookies, cinnamon rolls, or bars. Now, don't forget the gift shop, especially homemade quilts, aprons, pot holders, or your t-shirt from the farm. This is and always will be one of my favorite adventures to do when in Berlin. Big shout out to Edna for being do nice along with Martin & Buddy for the buggy ride. Then, Daniel on his daily log of people and where they come from to visit the farm. Stay safe and healthy Daniel your truly a miracle and such a delightful person to talk with as well as Martin and Edna. You all made my day very blessed in meeting you all. I will post the...
