What a pretty site to behold. Driving past I had to stop for a few pictures of the wild flowers and mountains in the background. Stop and check it out. Jackson Lake is in Grand Teton National Park in northwestern Wyoming. This natural lake was enlarged by the construction of the Jackson Lake Dam, which was originally built in 1911, enlarged in 1916 and rebuilt by 1989. As part of the Minidoka Project the top 33 ft of the lake is used by farmers in Idaho for irrigation purposes under water rights legislation that was enacted prior to the establishment of Grand Teton National Park. The lake is the remnant of large glacial gouging from the neighboring Teton Range to the west and the Yellowstone Plateau to the north. The lake is primarily fed by the Snake River, which flows in from the north, and empties at Jackson Lake Dam. Jackson Lake is one of the largest high altitude lakes in the United States, at an elevation of 6,772 ft above sea level. The lake is up to 15 miles long, 7 mi wide and 438 ft deep. The water of the lake averages below 60 °F, even during the summer. Jackson Lake, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Follow along with me at Jeff Mullins Photography Adventures. Get...

“Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming The setting sun lights up Jackson Lake as the Teton mountains loom in the background. A subrange of the Rocky Mountains, the Tetons seem to burst up from the ground with no real foothills leading up to the soaring mountaintops. On the eastern shore of Jackson Lake are alpine meadows and scrubland used for cattle grazing. But crossing westward, travelers nearly bump into the steep slopes of the Tetons. Amidst all the mountain grandeur, this lake holds its own: With more than 25,000 acres of surface area, it's one of the biggest high-altitude lakes in the US and just one of many reasons to visit Grand Teton National...

My absolute favorite place on Earth!! Jackson Lake is very beautiful. Amazing views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range!! Such an outstanding place to just spend time enjoying mother nature and the fresh Mountain Air! Plenty of pull off area's and spots to picnic. Roads are well marked and always maintained really nice. Lots of wildlife to be seen - and again the views are breath taking! A must for anyone visiting this area. If you pass up Jackson Lake you're...

"Wilderness sounds would be here, bird songs in the morning and at dusk. The aspen leaves would whisper and the pines as well, and in the sound of water and wind I would hear all that is worth listening for." -Sigurd Olson Today is World Listening Day. Listening to soundscapes, both natural and cultural, allows us to connect to our environment in new ways. In Grand Teton (and all national parks) the soundscape of an area is protected under the Organic Act of 1916. When we pause and quiet down, we quiet our minds and we begin to truly hear all of the beauty around us. Listening is a skill, meaning it is something you can improve with practice. What better place to practice than here! Will you take time out of your visit to pause, close your eyes, and listen to the beauty around you? Turn up the volume on the video and listen to the sound of Jackson Lake lapping against the shore. Can't get out of the house or office today? Check out the National Park Service's online sound library for a diverse range of natural, cultural, and animal sounds. Take a moment to think about your favorite place. Now what sound do you associate with that place? Share below.

After seeing whether predictions we planned for 1 day grand teton tour. Went to Jackson lake sun was still out everything was fine. We took a ferry to hidden falls and inspiration point. While coming back either we can take a trail or ferry. Once you reach other part of lake there is a small trail. Air is so fresh around that place. Suddenly it started raining when we went. Each view point is spectacular and refreshing.
