Jenny Lake is a beautiful setting that offers hiking options for people across a range of capabilities. At the easier end of the spectrum, you could take the water shuttle across the lake and walk up to the must-see Hidden Falls, walk back the the water shuttle and consider it a grand success. If you find you have some extra energy, you can continue past the Falls to the Inspiration Point overlook, but some may find the uphill climb a bit of a challenge. For those with moderate hiking capabilities, you may want to skip the shuttle and hike (clockwise) around the lake to the Falls. For hikers with more time, I would highly recommend the counter-clockwise route to the Falls. Much prettier route with less people and better views along the way. For those with lots of time and energy, continuing past Inspiration Point to the Cascade Canyon trail is highly recommended. (Even prettier than Jenny Lake hike!) Note: we arrived at Jenny Lake parking area at 7 AM on a beautiful June Friday morning and parking was wide open. Returning at 2 PM it was a Zoo. If you have to arrive later, a good strategy may be to drop your traveling party close to the Visitor Center and go park on the road outside the parking lot...
Read moreSunday 1:18pm. Arrived at the entrance and there was a long line of vehicles waiting to get in. After 15 minutes I pulled out my Senior Lifetime Pass, I went straight thru without stopping. The drive from their was another short 10 minutes. As we got close, there were many people parking on the side of the road outside the main parking lot. I took a chance and drove into the lot and after circling once around I got lucky and found a space. Since we missed the last scenic boat tour we just opt for the boat ride to across the other side and a short hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. We got back to the dock by 3:18 and there was already a long line of at least 70 people in front. After the 5th boat we finally boarded by 3:46. Looking back there was even a longer line of people. Overall we were glad to have missed the tour, the hike and views was...
Read moreThis is truly one of the most beautiful places in the whole world. It is nestled right below the majestic Grand Teton Mountain Range. The water is ice cold and Chrystal clear. The fishing is a fisherman paradise. With abundant cutthroat and lake trout. There are hiking trails for every level. The hike around the lake to hidden falls is one of my favorites. You can ride the ferry boat across the lake or paddle your own canoe in the water. Every time I come here I continue to stand in awe at the beauty of this place. If and when you visit I know you will feel the same way. I visited again today and we say this black bear casually walking along the side of the road early this morning. We also saw this bald eagle perched on a tree by the edge of the lake waiting for a fish to cart back to the nest. Wow how could I...
