I’m only giving this 4 stars because I couldn’t pass the entire trail to get there. I was very close but was stopped by a flooded trail. Both sides either had water or dense bush and trees. We took a Honda Pilot. You need a higher clearance vehicle or an ATV. Gorgeous trails and chances to see many wildlife on the trail. Grouse and deer. Usually a few random ATV or trucks sharing a smaller trail at at times. Not easy territory to navigate. Lots of rocks and Dolomite/limestone on trail. Locals are very kind in this area in general. Definitely the gem of Huron. Please leave these trails and fossils as they were when you came. Only leave footprints behind. Enjoy the Alvars on your way in. Flooded trail...

( All of the travels there were made on a 4wd...

He was very knowledgeable about the terrain and landscapes along the way. It takes 1 hour to get there, and he gave us an hour to visit the ledges, the another hour drive back.
Keep in mind that the destination can not be reached unless you have a vehicle that can navigate very rough terrain and, at times, drive through water that is well over your bumpers.
The fossil ledges themselves are beautiful! There are so many fossils, and it's right on the water, so the surrounding area...
