Visited as part of a family group early July 2025.
The grounds are clearly lovingly maintained with multiple little gardens and beds at the front that are herbs, for butterflies, or insects.
The trails are easy to walk, and we were able to use a stroller for most of where we went, with the exception of the A-frame bridge. The gift shop was very well done for a facility of this size. They had very cool, unique items that were not the typical, generic gift shop fare. Specifically, the puppet animals that metamorphized were amazing.
The interactive children's area was also fantastic. This facility had so many objects that were touchable, with a specific "touch table" with items ranging from pelts to skulls to rocks. So great for the interaction and learning of children. They also have an impressive display of taxidermized birds.
My group had several questions related to bird species and ongoing research projects at the center. The Director came out and spent a fair bit of time chatting with us about these things. We recognize that it was not busy at the time, but he didn't have to do that. It was much appreciated.
Overall, a very lovely space for community and visitors of all ages to learn about the ecosystems in this area....
Read moreThe ladies at the desk asked the organization Mgr. if I could bring my service dog on the premises after I shared that it was illegal for then to have stated that I was not allowed to "He then proceeded to ask my the nature of my disability. I offered him my documentation yet the gentleman in my party ( MY ELDERLY I'LL FATHER )decided not to choose to browse the outside nature center because of the situation. So I withheld any further info yet have been upset and highly offended about it since. I mean it only takes a moment to Google.
According to the American Disability Act Service animals are not pets. So, although a “no pets” policy is perfectly legal, it does not allow a business to exclude service animals. ... A public accommodation or facility is not allowed to ask for documentation or proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal.
I'm beginning to think that even though the center seemed like a beautiful facility and community service... that this needs to be addressed further if such lack of knowledge and unfair treatment is not with remedy...
Read moreBeautiful both outdoors and in, Seven Ponds Nature Center is a fun, functional way for people of all ages to enjoy Michigan's environment. On the inside of the facility, you'll find educational tidbits on animals native to our wilderness, bird viewing, plenty of seating, an indoor honey beehive, plenty of activities for kids to explore, and a charming gift shop. On the outside, there is a menagerie of trails that lead you through the woods to the aforementioned ponds, and are mostly mulch-covered until you reach wooden docks. You'll find benches here and there on the wooded trails if you need to make a pit stop. More benches will be found on the docks. Some of the trails are steep, so watch your step! That it's affordable only makes the experience that...
