Sanctuary Vineyards Outer Banks Winery — Attraction in Duck

Well, well, well! What a lovely visit. Feels like a home away from home. The location and comfort of this winery made our event that much more intimate. We went in celebration of Mother's Day and a birthday. I contacted Mr. John via email due to us being out of towners, and he responded quickly! He informed me about the wine tasting prices, allowed outside food, and told us about the outdoor picnic areas. We were able to have a nice set up at one of the tables outside in the front. It was very comfy with the rocking chairs and even though we went on a cloudy day, we enjoyed the breeze and had a great time. Thank you to the staff behind the bar! They had much knowledge on the wines and offered us a complimentary tasting that they were premiering along with our tasting. Also had free charcuterie food. This was the best winery I’ve visited hands down! The diversity of the wines and flavors was astonishing and Kathleen was so nice! I think she was the nicest person we met on our entire vacation. She was the one helping us throughout our tasting and she was very knowledgeable. We also met another girl working, Taylor, who was very friendly as well. We unfortunately had to cut out of the tour a little early but she was a great tour leader and really informative about the history of the winery and the growing and processing of the grapes. These two are very welcoming and a pleasure to be around. If the owner reads this: please allow an option to leave a tip on a credit card for the great staff members. The wine is amazing. Such a variety of them to choose from. We loved the Whalehead White and Dry Chardonnay. We did a sunset cruise through Kitty Hawk Kites in Duck, NC and Brian, our Captain, was amazing. He knew the local area, wildlife, and had great wine suggestions! I would recommend visiting the winery through the sunset tour at Kitty Hawk Kites. Thursdays nights had a live music night. We loved it...they gave us a bag for our cold wine, which we had one glass of, and the condensation caused the bag to break. The Sanctuary Vineyard replaced our almost full bottle free of charge.
