When I first pulled into the parking the first thing I noticed is all the garbage! We decided to take a few minutes to pick up the trash. I'm all for smoking blunts and eating taco bell but clean up your mess! I feel like more could be done memorialize native Americans other than dedicating a rock to them. The trail is ok. I wish it was paved because it would be a great place to bring bikes. There are no bathrooms at all. The only garbage can I saw was at the begining of the trail. There are a few benches and shelters along the trail and there should definitely be a trash can at each one. The shelters seems a bit outdated. Read moreThe Native American Memorial Site/Macon Reservation is located inside West County Park next to River Raisin. It is a portion of the original three-square mile reservation created in 1807. The memorial site has a few good open spots for fishing and or picnics. There is also what looks to be a council grounds created with a circle of benches next to the river. The area is inside a southern bend in River Raisin. I recommend a visit! Be sure to take a walk along the beautiful nature preserve walking trail that follows the curve along the river.
