Coalmont OHV Park — Attraction in Dunlap

Overall very clean and new. It was nice to see some fall decorations set up. We liked that each electrical post had its own solar light. Just a few suggestions:

1. The office hours are very limited (closed Mon & Tues, Wed & Thurs 3-8P, Fri 12-9P, Sat 8A-9P, Sun 8A-5P). We camped Mon & Tues and on Wednesday we had to check out by 11 so we never got to talk to anyone in person. We tried calling several time during 'office hours' but there was no answer. All we wanted to know is if we can park somewhere so we could ride before we were allowed to check in at 1 or 3PM (web site states two different check out times).
2. We felt the trails were rather difficult for our standard Polaris Razor 800 SxS. Due to washouts, ruts and rocks, many green trails we'd consider a blue, some blue was a black, so we didn't even bother trying a black trail. The park seems more fitting for the extreme/performance quads.
3. Please offer a paper trail map. The Polaris app you recommend using doesn’t help if your phone dies (which mine did) or if you get in an area with no signal (the app often stated “no data…” so it wasn’t accurate. Also the Polars app doesn’t show any of the highlights such as office, washouts, impassible trails and should be updated with proper trail difficulty color. The map on it is so old it doesn’t even show the office/structures.
4. Improve the camping email receipt to show the camp site number. Right now it’s just a tiny number on it’s own and initially we had no idea what it meant.
5. Provide update on your web site with creek water levels. If it’s running to high, some trails would be impassible. If too low, there’s no waterfall to see.
6. Seems everywhere you want to take a scenic picture along the river there is a “do not ride in creek” sign posted. Hard to believe anyone could get in there to begin with.

Great place for off-roading. I’d probably say one of my favorite places to go so far in Tennessee for Jeeps. Very scenic with moderate trails. Check in was fairly easy as it can be done online the day before going. This made it easy to just check in when you get there and start riding. The trails were perfect for side by sides and Jeeps. The main trail around the park was fun by itself. We took plenty of other side trails and had a blast. The map supplied is very accurate. All trails had very easy readable signs so you know which trail is which and also there were plenty of trail signs that showed the way back to the parking lot incase you were lost or just needed to find the exit. There were a few places I dropped cell service but for the majority of the time I had service. The park also had a concession stand which I had not seen before yet at an off-road park. I can't say enough good about this place. We will MOST DEFINITELY be back. The guys who checked us in and gave us oir arm bands were nice and helpful. The campground area is right behind the checkin building and is very clean. The whole lot is well kept. After our ride, I took a shower in the bath house. It was very clean. It had private shower stalls that had a curtain for the shower section and a bench and a fee hooks The toilet area was also clean. The trails were SO MUCH FUN!! we normally ride at Windrock and if you are familiar with Windrock then it would be safe to say that Coalmont is mostly blue trails. There are a few black sections but nothing a wench cant help you through. Full disclosure, we didn't ride every trail so there may be a few hard ones we didnt get to. We will come...
