Let me preface this with- I have never written a review for any establishment. I rate this one star because that is the lowest possible rating. My family and I went to “hidden gem” on the opening day of pumpkin extravaganza for 2019. We paid $49.52 for 2 adults, a 6 year old, and a 1 year old. We arrived almost 12 noon and went directly to the bumper boats. They were closing in 5 minutes. We went to ride the train, it too was closed. We went to ride the go-carts, these are only open to special events. I went to the front counter and asked for a schedule. I was told that everything was open. We went back to the “attractions” and everything was still closed. We let our 6 year old play on the playground for about 30 minutes and revisited the closed attractions to find them all still closed. We decided to leave. I asked for a refund for the adults and was willing to pay for my 6 year old because after all, she did play on the playground and ride in a bathtub full of bumper boats in rusty knee-deep water for 3 minutes and 40 seconds. I was told that a refund wasn’t possible and that she (the owner) would like me to assist her in solving her staffing issues and operational shortcomings inviting me back into the park to walk with her and conduct her inquiry. I told her that I expect, for $49.52, her to have already staffed accordingly or at least to tell me all that is open is the playground. To their credit, the basketball court was open too, however my 4 foot tall 6 year old didn’t have fun with the 10 foot goal. Thanks for a lousy time and the 2 hand-sized...
Read moreWhat a wonderful fun family day we had at Butts Mill Farms! They have 4 play grounds, mini golf, train rides ( for 10 and under), a pond with fishing ( poles & bate provided), peddle carts, a small petting zoo, an antique car museum, hayrides, a natural creek runs through where you can play and get wet! There was just so much to do! Everything is near each other so easy walking as far as distance- the terrain was a little rough in some places so if using a stroller an all-terrain stroller is best. The staff was extremely nice, helpful & friendly! We came to learn the farm is recently under new ownership and they are doing a lot of updating & fixing things up. There are areas that are pretty worn out and need repair but you can tell they addressing it. My only complaint is the pricing. For my family it didn’t end up being to expensive because we paid just for 2 adults (totaling $26 with a military discount) because my 2 children are under 2 years old they were free. But with the price of adults being $15 and children over 2 $13 each there’s no way I would spend $52 for my family of 4 to go! And since I grew up in a family of 6 and my husband grew up in a family of 15 we kept discussing how outrageously expensive and unrealistic it would be for a large family to come enjoy the farm. I truly believe there could be much more family friendly pricing available while still being profitable for the farm. Also having a yearly pass available for purchase would help but that still should be at a...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem, especially if you have little kids. We are a military family and have gone to small farm-style entertainment attractions like this in California, Arizona and Virginia and this one blew those right out of the water. There was just SO MUCH to do, every time you turned the corner there was something different to play with/climb on/see.
PLAYGROUNDS. My 5 year old son is a playground junkie and this place had countless, unique play areas. Everything was safe, clean and in working order.
I can't even begin to explain how vast this place is and how much you get for the price of admission: free popsicles, a fishing pond with poles and bait, admission to a classic car museum, trampolines, volleyball/badminton, horseshoes, mini golf, a beach, a creek to splash and play in (the seats under the covered bridge is unique, I've never seen anything like it!) covered and well-shaded playgrounds, complimentary water at water stations, bumper boats, pedal karts, train and tractor rides, ponies and goats to visit and pet, a giant chess board, hula hoops — it goes on and on.
We were there for four hours and didn't even get to do everything! I suppose we'll just have to come back.
The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, everyone was smiling and looked genuinely happy to be there....
