Good shaded parking lot and picnic area. With athletic field restrooms. Nice trail access and smooth paved trail from Durand to Red Cedar Trail Junction about 6 miles east of town. Trail gets tougher after the junction to Meridean and Carryville. Saw wildlife and river; red fox, deer and cat.

Easy hiking. I must've been on a different part of the trail since I wasn't near the river at all. Still pretty and quiet scenery. We did come across a small creek. Lots of farm land.

Good shaded parking lot and picnic area. With athletic field restrooms. Nice trail access and smooth paved trail from Durand to Red Cedar Trail Junction about 6 miles east of town. Trail gets tougher after the junction to Meridean and Carryville. Saw wildlife and river; red fox, deer and cat.

Type in Chippewa River State Trail into a Google search and select the Wisconsin DNR link. Much good information for making informed decisions on your route. Includes downloadable map link in PDF format. Also various trailheads have maps. The Pepin County managed section from Durand to Red Cedar Trail is well maintained-relatively new asphalt. The next section is less desireable. If it's bug season, be sure to pack repellant as the mosquitoes and deer flies are horrendous. If you stop, you will likely be...

Beautiful scenery! Much of the trail follows the Chippewa River. Some open farmland with opportunities to enjoy wildlife. The trail from Durand heading Northeast is freshly paved and so smooth it a delight to ride. The rest of the trail to Eau Claire can be relatively rough. I don't know when it was last paved but some suspension on your bike would...
