We've used the picnic areas of Durham Park for family events a couple of times. It's great to have a covered area with a lot of tables for use. Although the covered area can be reserved, so check ahead before you plan. We found a single table by some tall trees that provided some shade which was nice on a hot day. The playground equipment needs to be updated for safety as far as small children go. There were no steps for adults to use in order to accompany a small child & the slide was too tall for a toddler to use. The park itself is nicely maintained, however, the bathrooms could use some updating as well. Everything seems pretty old & worn out. Hopefully, the parks & rec there will get some funding for needed improvements. The main concern is the playground equipment. Sports, are welcome. The Park is equipped wuth Baseball Diamonds, two(2); public picnic tables and restrooms with delicious ice cold water fountains placed strategically throughout the Park. The perfect place fir outings, family gatherings, weddings/receptions, bar-b-que(s).

Adults be sure to share the tree art with the kids, there are 4 trees lost to winds, weather, and time that have been carved by a local artist to have eagles and bears topping them.
