I used to visit at least once a week in the summers of my younger days to go swimming and mountain 🏔️ biking. I later brought my kids a few times to swim. I had a friend who lived on Bennett RD. and I would park and ride my bike to the falls. There isn't a real waterfall. It is part of the Lamprey River and it is a popular swimming 🥽 and 🎣 fishing area. Popular with families. The chance of encountering a Lamprey eel is slim. They are further upstream and hang out in the shallows. Better fishing 🎣 further down river. I have encountered 🐢 turtles, though not the snapping kind. They do live and nest along the river. I've even seen beavers, but, at night. I visited today and there was a young guy sitting in a yoga position meditating in the freezing 🥶 cold. Parking is limited. The early summer is the best time to visit when the water levels are at the highest.

This is a very nice hiking trail, especially during the autumn season, but not much of a waterfall location. Unless we missed it, but I don't think so. The trail/trails aren't marked, but it was easy enough to navigate the area. If you like "rock hopping ", then this is a place for you. It's also an easy trail to hike.

This is a short section of rapids, above a pool, on the Lamprey River. In the summer it is a popular swimming hole for students from UNH. When the river is high it is very dangerous, do not enter the water. There are no facilities. There is very limited parking, just for a few cars.

Packer's is a spectacular place to go fishing, swimming, or simply watch the world go by. Parking is limited but if you snag a spot, it's well worth the trip. Watch osprey, deer, and other wildlife or take a turn going down the rapids on an inner tube. One of Durham's...
