It's a great ski area, but seems badly run (at least on the skiing side).
they focus all snowmaking early season on the tubing hills. It's mid January and there's no sign of ski operations anytime soon. there were several weeks before Christmas when they could've made snow and didn't. Hickory Hills has a similar snowmaking setup and they've been open since Christmas. at this point it looks like they won't be able to open until Feb which gives them a 1.5 month ski season, certainly not worth the $270 pass when Hickory charges half that for a better run hill.
and then there's the lifts, specifically Yellow. as far as I know it hasn't run in years. I asked an operator on closing weekend last year and he said it didn't run a single day all season even when they had snow. That's a third of the mountain closed for the entire season.
again, it's a fun hill, but not well run. open the ski hill that your passholders are paying for, and either run the Yellow lift or replace it (there's like 5 old lifts being replaced up North that could be...
Read moreOld school but cool! This family of 7 really enjoyed our Sunday 3/12/23 spent at this family friendly and affordable ski area in Traverse City. The slopes were high enough to keep 2 black diamond boys happy on both skis and a snowboard. The staff was excellent and accommodating and happy! The food was a big surprise as it was actually very good and made on site. In fact this food was better than Crystal Mountain and The Homestead for the ski scene at the mountain. We will definitely be back next season. A very pleasant surprise for the area!
This is additional information about the Base Camp for mountain biking at Mt. Holiday. I’d say excellent instruction in a small group setting with a tremendous amount of riding and jumping due to the small class size made for 2 very happy boys age 10 and 12! There were many opportunities to learn and all was guided by clear explanations and demonstrations. I hear great things are in the plans for this place and as a mountain biking experience I’d surely...
Read moreWhere to begin. I planned a whole trip to come and ski at mount holiday for new years eve this year. It's a 3 hour drive for me to come up here and the weekend before they closed and nobody answered the phone. But they were open on monday and tell me that they will be closed on NYE due to not enough snow... at this point i couldn't cancel my hotel arrangements and not get charged so we decided to come up anyways and now they just got 7 inches of snow fall in one night and still refuse to be open today when there is plenty of snow on the mountain to skii. Yet all the surrounding ski snowboard resorts in the surrounding area are open today. I will never...
