Our family stayed here a while ago, in our trailer. It was our maiden voyage, and we needed to figure out how the trailer was, and what we might need for longer trips, etc..

First off Black Sandy is a great location, we had a spot literally right on the water in front of the ropes swimming area, and my girls had a blast swimming and enjoying themselves. We had a campfire and roasted marshmallows and enjoyed our time.

We had power for our trailer, but I took one star off because there was no water or dump station. The main thing we figured out on this trip was that with two adults and three children, Water is a 100% must. We actually ran out of water in the evening late, and since we only lived a mile away, we drove home. Now we only go where there is full service of electricity, water, and a dump station.

For anyone else, though, that doesn’t have so many people, this is an ideal place to take a small vacation and we recommend it highly if you don’t need a...

A very nice little state park. Well maintained and with necessary facilities for tents, RV, boat docks/ramp, and swimming. RV spaces are 2 per space. There is AC power, water and a dump station for the traditional fee of $5.00. Additional parking is available. Volunteer staff were courteous and friendly. We never did see the park store open, but that may be a ‘seasonal’ thing.

Driving into the park, be careful of the downhill, gravel roads. You could very easily loose control coming down into the parks. Also, there is a narrow road past the park that will take you to Hauser Dam.

The park is convenient for visiting Helena, The Gates of the Mountains, and other river related facilities.

One final word, it’s beautiful to walk up to the overlook in the morning and see the sunrise with fish jumping...

Small RV park, very tight sites. Great access to the lake if you have any kind of watercraft. You can dock your boat close to your site for about $7 a day. Both pit and flush toilets, no showers. RV sites are all on the lake, almost like a parking lot. Fire pits and picnic tables. A bit pricey for not having showers or water. There is a dump station but you have to pay an extra $5 in addition to your camping fees to use it. The road in is over 3 miles of gravel/dirt and pretty rough but doable. Some sites have...

This is more of a RV camping and parking area than a great picnic spot although there are tables and fire rings. There are restrooms in a fairly new building. There is also a boat ramp and docks. On this day in late September there were still several RVs although not many people out and about. It's not a terribly scenic or wild area although the lake is nice. It's not a good swimming area. Dogs have to be leashed. Hiking trails weren't obvious. The picnic areas might be hard for wheelchair access because they are hills.
